right, how do I move them on the level without having all guards blast my ass

Well you either git real gud at sneaking around or you just don't. It's that simple.

You can take a gun in one hand and a detonator in other, that will cause guards not to notice your gun. Kinda glitchy, but you can imagine you are carrying a briefcase like those big ones which already presented on missions.

You can equip the detonator while you are carrying a gun and no one is going to get alerted. There are some specific briefcases for those guns, but they are in very few missions, the only one I can remember was Death on the Mississippi. You can also store the guns in the ICA cases, there is one on every level.
