Why do we need to fleet up simply to change ships?
If the Themis is a trade vessel and the Invader is a combat vessel, why the heck do I have to join my Invader and my Themis into a fleet in order to change ships?

Have I missed something obvious here?

No, you are not missing anything. There really needs to be an option where the player can just pick which fleet to control.

The way it stands right now, you need to merge a combat fleet to your fleet, then if you want to go pure trading again, you need to remove every combat ship from your fleet individually, and then remake the combat fleet from scratch. It is very cumbersome, where a button that allows you to take control of the lead ship of a fleet would make the whole process a lot less of a cluster.

ya I'd like to see this as many times have had to chase down my own fleets to micro manage them

Well technically this shouldn't even be a "fleet" issue given these are 2 single ships that I want to fly seperately - each with completely different roles.

The reasoning doesn't even make sense let alone the misuse of the nomenclature. Not only shouldn't I need to make a "fleet" just so I can change ships, I shouldn't be mixing trade and combat vessels in fleets anyway.

Well, I think you can pull fleet supplies from a freighter in the same fleet when repairing/rearming. Was going to test if it works tonight. I'll you know ; ).

If you can, would I be splitting hairs if I said that should be a "supply" or "logistics" vessel , not a "trade" vessel? :steamhappy:
