Worth a purchase now?
Is the game more developed and has it more features than 6 months ago?

I wanted to get it when it was released but not at full price for an AE. To this day I have refused to pay so much money for something unfinished.

My question is also: is the 20 EUR worth it or is the game still years away from being finished?

What do you call a finished game?
I have over 1800 h playtime in this game and very happy with what is in it already and happy to know they do work on new stuff all the time.

Does it have combat against other tribes? Is there an AI that competes against you?

this is a city builder.....not a war game...

At the moment only we as players can attack other tribes to Raid them, but we are getting human conflict in future implementations, so yes,, there will be blood and gore between tribes! :D

I sometimes watch your Ancient Cities videos, but their silence about the new roadmap doesn't leave me cold. We have no idea what they even plan to add or if they will add anything at all. Are they planning to add a younger stone age, bronze age, copper age, iron age to the game? New settlements and policy options, cooperation with other tribes, wars against other tribes with real fight system, creation of nations, maybe migration to other areas and creation of new settlements with more advanced trade options, ships, kayaks, wooden houses, stone houses, newer tools, etc, etc. If the final product is to be similar to the current state, then it is probably not worth the purchase. It would be a shame not to use the game's potential.

A lot of what you mentioned is planned for the future in one shape or another, and a lot of it has been suggested previously by the community. Devs have a long list of future implementation from the gaming community on their To-Do list :)

We also have some of what you mentioned already, we have both wooden house types and stone housing.
They are currently working on the first DLC Ice Age, which will be followed by 1 or more of the Metal ages.
This is being done same time as game is regularly updated with tweaks and performance improvements.
You will find that in the last month or so alone, we have had 6+ patches implemented to Beta and Public servers, so their activity is as high today as it was 4 years ago.

More and more will be added to the game :)

There is already now a huge amount of stuff implemented and worth to play. It is all but an easy game but worth the patience.
There are often updates and new stuff added.
and even with what you get now you can play thousand of hours without getting bored!

IMO, Ancient Cities is worth a buy. I've put many more hours into it than Dawn of Man (AC ~ 240 hours, DoM ~ 88 hours). Then again, I'm most interested in the Mesolithic and Neolithic, so maybe I'm just that peculiar and very niche target audience. :P
