Known issues (and some solutions)
Hi all,

We are aware of several different bugs (or non-bug reasons) some users are having trouble installing the game via Steam, or the game not launching once installed. If you are one of those users, please see the following list on our website for the current status and/or any recommendations:

Not all of these issues have solutions or workarounds yet. We will keep this updated as we learn more!

And keep in mind this is (intentionally!) an incomplete list. It’s being updated over time, and only covers the biggest game-breaking issues we’ve come across. It does not include smaller bugs or feedback on the game. (For those, please see our Help page[halflife2vr.com] and bug tracker!)

You may want to include this. It seems to be an growing issue.

But its ofcourse up too the developers

If you are having "AI disabled" problems, open the console and enter the following commands:

ai_norebuildgraph 1

ai_resume

And then reload your savegame.

Or you can start a new game from the closest chapter, which will also fix the issue.

So, this is crashing my Steam VR everytime I launch it. I have no idea how to get it running without freezing.

vrroverlay failed initialization with error code VRInitError_IPC_CompositorInvalidConnectResponse: "Shared IPC Compositor Invalid Connect Response (307)"

Did you find a solution, because I have the same thing, I can see the hl menu on the lappy screen but in the headset it's just hanging?

Hi folks. I cant install the game. i seen above that some people are having trouble with this. does anyone know any work around's for this.

Seem to be come performance issues. I'm on a 4090, and although the GPU and CPU both have tons of headroom, the game won't do a consistent 144hz or 120hz. If the CPU and GPU aren't the bottleneck, something in the game might be getting slowed down.

The game engine is extremely single-threaded, so your overall performance will be dictated by your CPU's single core performance. Most users will have a very hard time hitting 120-144 FPS consistently. Unfortunately, there's not much we can do about it.

Is it a known issue that the game does not start using NVIDIA 522 drivers? I get the white dialogue box flash up on starting and then dumps me back to desktop and game doesn't start. Had no issues on 517 drivers.
Worked fine previously on i5 laptop 2070 Super too. On 4090 with latest 522 drivers game doesn't start. I read someone else reverted to 517 drivers with 4090 and game started. I have excluded all possibilities - antivirus, MSI afterburner as did that guy - only driver change worked. Can Devs check this out please as want to play again. Is there a simple fix without changing drivers as can't do that to my system every time just to play.
Is the Unkownformat D3D9 shown below related?

I'm planning to stream this help bring more attention to the mod, and while play testing I found a problem. At some point, I had ammo, but I wasn't able to pull any more clips out of the backpack to reload the pistol. I also had trouble actually loading the gun. It isn't quite as elegant as HL Alyx. I'm assuming you want it to be that intuitive, at some point. Right now, it isn't, but this is still very early code. I totally understand, I'm a Star Citizen Backer, I'm used to very early unstable code.

I was using Valve Index Controllers with an HTC Vive on Windows 10, latest version.

i have a problem where for some reason when i start the game up it doesnt actually display it in vr. like it shows up on desktop and works like that. but in actual steam vr itself it just forever says: next up half life 2 vr mod, as if it was loading it despite it already being loaded
the workshop is not working for me when i open the workshop it says that there is nothing on the workshop and only the front page works

edit: nvm it works now

I keep getting error 451, saying that the video is not streaming when launching through steam vr. I can't even start a new game because it just freezes.

Posting this Launch Crash to Desktop potential fix that was found on f2vr discord:

If your launch crash reason is a "Could not load Library client" or a "Entry Point Not found .... hlvr\bin\client.dll" msg box, and you have exhausted all other troubleshooting options. it is possible the crashing is due to VulkanRT corruption.

Steps to resolve load library client/procedure entry point issue
- Download VulkanRT - https://vulkan.lunarg.com/sdk/home
- Run the installer.

Note: This installer may be unable to write to some files. These files are - controlled by your graphics driver, and the VulkanRT installer will not be able to install to them. You may press Ignore to skip writing to these files.

- LASTLY for the sake of system stability - Make sure you repair or reinstall your graphics drivers after the previous steps.
- reattempt launch of HL2VR.
