VR Support
Due to negative reviews and feedback relating specifically to the VR implementation in MX Bikes, we have removed the VR tag from the store page. This means it will no longer show up in the VR section of Steam.
This does NOT mean we're removing VR or stopping development on it. We'll continue to refine VR in future updates to try and make it a better experience.

Sorry to hear about the negative reviews - there are plenty of other VR supported sim titles whose VR implementation is a bit rough at the moment so you're definitely not alone. I bought and tried the game last night based on the VR tag and I'm totally willing to wait for further VR tweaks - you've got a really fun title here and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes.

I think if the right VR trigger were the gas, the left the brake and the joysticks/thumbpads were used to steer and control rider position then it would be enough to get most VR players off the ground without having to do one-to-one hand control of the bike.

The title "V-Racer Hoverbike" has some good virtual motorcycle control and might be worth looking at for inspiration.

Keep up the great work!

Don't let then get you down dude.
They're the same ones who complain about all the "safe" games that require teleport.

I'm having trouble getting the leans mapped right, but otherwise love the game so far.
Its a mental leap, but so great.

Hello !

Please, don't give up VR ! I bought this game because of that !

At the moment, I think that we need simple things to enjoy VR :
- The camera position must be "locked" on the horizon and not following the head pilot movements (that's what causes motion sickness)
- In first person view, you should make the body translucent, and/or maybe just make appear hands
- In third person view, make the camera more flexible and more "floating"
- Make a proper menu navigation with the controller

At this time, no need to leaning or simulate gaz control.

That's all, guys !

I've got this on my wish and a happy owner with Valve index. I so want this sort of game in virtual reality. I hope you guys can do a fantastic job and maybe even give it motion control support later down the road. Vr bike games will be amazing in time and I'm sure this will be.

I just tried vr for the first time ever and was choppy as heck on the valve index. also, i couldnt figure out how to reset the headset so i was sitting on the bike, instead my guy was permanently leaning forward and like 6 feet above the bars.
Is there any documentation online i missed on how to set up the vr?

There is a control assignment for VR Reset in Settings > Input 3
Default is F8
If you have framerate problems in VR, you could try disabling 3D grass and lowering Antialiasing & Anisotropic textures

Hey guys! I have some cool suggestions for Vr support for the game that hopefully are possible!

*disclaimer* I don't own the game yet so I'm unaware of the current Vr features
I plan on purchasing when I get paid
lol don't hurt me!

1. The option to use vr controllers as "Handlebars" where the triggers act as your front brake or combined brakes (right hand) and clutch (left hand). to steer, tilt the controllers as if you were holding handlebars. use the Vr wingsuit game "Rush" as inspiration for steering.

2. as for leaning, use head position. Ex: lean in real life and use the headsets position to determine which way to lean (Forward, back, left, right).

3. For throttle use the accelerometer data from the right hand controller to detect rotation (as if you were twisting a throttle!)

those are about all I could think of at the moment. I'm sure other people have made similar requests in the past, but I thought I would throw it out there. I also understand that Implementing this kind of thing would be difficult and hard to tune to feel "realistic".

I might make this its own post to see if anyone has any more input!

Thank you!

I like the VR support very much with my HP Reverb. Great fun!

How do u set up the controls for VR support

I was coming here to ask for Windows Mixed Reality support, but I see a comment above that says it works with their Reverb. Strange, on my Acer headset it always shows black. The WMR preview shows it working and tracking, but just black forever in my headset. More alarmingly, it makes the headset black out completely until I fully shut down WMR and start it again. The absolute moment MX Bikes starts up the headset blacks out. Still has a backlight on though. If I hit the windows button I hear the sound of the menu but can't see it.

Really wanted to play this in VR! I'm on the demo currently but I couldn't imagine that this was an intentional nerf for the demo. Will be buying the game regardless but look forward to VR support with my upcoming Reverb G2 and my current headsets. Of note as well I have three other WMR headsets but I have not dug them out to try. I prefer my Acer due to the size and weight.

My PC has a Ryzen 5 3600 and a Vega 64.
Thanks!

I am looking at this game again, I've wanted to play a mx game in virtual reality. I have no idea how the controls are. I think it be brilliant to use the controllers on the handle bars with brakes like I read above, as for the lean. I think it should just alter the center of gravity and the physics of the bike, so you can counter steer and sit off the side of the bike. The position and speed would determine the physics how the bike acts. I guess many people could also make some handle bars to attached motion controllers and have a spring return to centre, give it a more realistic feel. I've not even tried it but It's how I think vr bikes would work best. I think a bike in vr done properly will be so amazing.

I have the HP Reverb headset but the game doesn't launch when trying to use the headset.
Is there a setting that I need to apply?
Menus are working but when I click go to track it only starts loading and nothing happens.
Anyone else had this problem?

That's probably because teleport is crap...

Just played this on the valve index using just an xbox controller, Fun as hell. IDK if its because of it being 3d that I can actually play better in vr then normal
