Feels way too hard
It seems like every step in this game is way too cryptic and hard. I looked at a spoiler free hint guide and it just made everything more confusing. I really want to like this game but it just feels like a chore with a lot of aggravating parts.

Hm not rly to be honest. Paying attention, analysing every detail and visiting memories multiple times is enough to ID 90 %

I just beat the game yesterday and loved it. When I first started, after I fairly easily solved the first couple identities, it made me think I was going to get very concrete evidence at some point as to who everyone is. This turns out not to be true in my experience. Maybe there actually is a way to absolutely positively ID everyone, but I beat the game having to take some educated guesses and brute force a couple ID's. There are some people the game ID's 20 times over, and then there are a few individuals that are barely shown at all and you just have to make educated guesses based on their nationality, position on the ship, etc.

I agree that they give you just enough to mostly make out who 90% of the people are. One hint I could offer is don't ignore the maps; get to know the rooms of the ship bc you can get lots of info of who people are based on the titles of the rooms they are in or near in some of these memories.

Once you get rolling with it, it becomes really fun. I would love to play another game like this but IDK if anything is really just like it sadly.

I'm dumb as ♥♥♥♥ it took me 6 years only just finished (about to lose family sharing access!) but the things I missed was watch what people wear for identification, and check the bunks- the tags only show numbers for crew alive at that time.

It's definitely demanding. The first two sets of identifications are pretty obvious, but the difficulty ramps up steeply after that.
The game is challenging, fair and absolutely remarkable. If you can't solve something then move on and remember that everything you have in the book is absolutely crucial in providing clues. Even if you only know the cause of death, mark it and move on. Observations are key and this includes absolutely everything. You may hit a brick wall but once you start solving a few, more will follow.

If you look at guides, you will ruin the experience for yourself.
Game doesn't feel like a chore at all.
