First things first, I've paid for the game. It is a fun idea overall, a light rpg with a more or less interesting storyline. That's it when it comes to positives. Before the "git gud"ers show up, I'm a veteran rpg player. I've finished fallout 1/2 with no companions numerous times, I've finished baldurs gate 2 21 times, including solo playthroughs. I do appreciate games that allow for HONEST difficult playthroughs and even build optimisations. Now get a snack for the long list of negatives:
1) there are silly bugs, like characters clogging and pathfinding not being able to unclog itself
2) you will read ten books during a playthrough, not a single word is in audio in this game - nowadays, that's a no-no
3) you need a bit of clairvoyance, some reruns or reading and getting spoilers to have a reasonable build
4) the game requires a build ( is this really what an rpg should have? )
5) difficulty settings are a joke, unless you use custom ( which you need to learn by trial and error too )
A) The designed way to play, called underdog, is silly. Enemies almost always hit you. You almost never hit unless you have a build.
B) enemies are combat optimised empty shells, that have better gear and more stats than you. you are also outnumbered, they are all in cover and you are in their killzone
C) in hero mode, the buffs for the player and debuffs for AI are ridiculous, so either you are stomped to the ground, or you have no immersion, because you are a walking god
D) combat and enemy stats are designed so badly, that this game should have a restart combat button, which it doesn't. An rpg shouldn't need such a button, but this one does. about 80% of fights are lost in first round, because you get hit with some crits and it's game over - your team won't deal nearly enough damage to win outnumbered vs a stronger enemy, when you lose someone before you can even move
E) enemies are in perfect spots, but your starting points won't allow you in most cases to move all of your team into cover before the fight starts - hence 80% fights are lost in first round depending on rng
F) you're in cover and have 54% dodge? well it would be a real shame if AI got great rolls and basically ignored all your defences, wouldn't it? :) well this game has it.
G) you have 71% hit chance and enemy is 2 hits to die even if you get grazes because they have 3hp? HEY! have three 98 rolls in a row and miss all three hits :D
H) fighting frogs with guns? how hard could it be? oops, the frogs have 62 initiative, so you better have maxed absolutely every possible way on your initiative, or they will be moving first - ah, I know what you're saying, they need a turn to get to you, because you have guns. nope! the fight is designed in a way, that they are instantly on you and can get all attacks onto you in the first turn after they move towards your squad.
I) uncounterable mechanics? CHECK! this game has psionics, which can be softened a bit by chemicals (and some other stuff, but forget having these on time ), the caveat is: the chemicals work for 2 turns, after which they take away 2 perception and your hit rate lowers. Also, psionics take away your action points, so not only you're unable to act, you also are damaged prety hard by it. these mobs also have 100 initiative, so they always hit you first and never miss. also, they are tanky enouhg, that killing them in 2 turns while your chems work is impossible, until you get the right RNG (which is what? 5% of the time?)
J) The saying "who brings a knife to a gunfight" is there for a reason, but devs of this game really like melee, so bringing a knife(or a hammer) to a gunfight works in this game - remember, fights are designed for enemies to get on top of you in the first turn, and AI melee attacks actually do more damage than firearms - let that sink in.

I could hammer this game for hours, but I think that this is enough for anybody to know what they will be dealing with.

Don't play as a charisma build. The game allows you to talk your way out of encounters at first, which is really cool! Until it doesn't. And when it doesn't, you will slam your head into the encounter hoping RNG high roll's in your favor.

Quests are boring, the party members are dullards, and the combats uninspiring.

Good RPG. If you liked the Shadowrun Returns games, this scratched the same itch.
