The "flying" animation (beteeen Avalon and the stages) does not reflect the selected costume, it just shows the default one. (Or at least it doesn't reflect the purple-haired one, I haven't tried the others.)

The first playthough zone 7 boss (The Doctor) (Dr. Allison Westmoor) was very tedious. Once her shield was spinning, projectiles rarely got through, so hitting with the sword was the only practical way to do damage. A few hits did a bit of damage, then she did her attack moves, which just required dodging (then, as she lost more health, even more dodging). Repeat cycle many, many times.
