Somehow, without a single word, Journey provided the most profoundly emotional gaming experience of my life. I went in about as blind as I could for a game that came out over a decade ago, and that's absolutely the way the first play through should be. I found this to be a game where I often forgot I had a controller in my hands, multiple times IRL distractions broke my concentration and made me realize I was just witnessing the game with my jaw dropped, mouth open. As my final companion and I pushed through the last act, I realized I was actually crying. Just weeping as I pushed the joystick forward. There was a shocking level of catharsis for me, and I absolutely never expected that from this experience.

It's not a game for everyone, but it was absolutely the game for me. My next play-through (once I've had time to process and reflect - which probably sounds so incredibly dumb if this game doesn't hit you the way it did me) will definitely be cozied up in a dark room with good headphones and no distractions. I rarely finish a game and immediately want to jump back in, but I'm really genuinely excited to explore this world again.

The best way I've heard this game described is "poetry in motion". Also, you get to feel connected to total strangers by following them around, flying with them, and screaming at rugs together. Very cool and beautifully done. Feels like a blissful dream that you keep wanting to explore.

This game had me more emotionally involved than any other. I am not a gamer usually but this just exceeded my expectations and then some. I got this as a gift and I had no idea what I was getting into but I am so happy I played it. I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a profound, visually stunning, and immersive experience. Just don't be surprised if you tear a bit at the end. :)
