MacOS: '“Riven.app” is damaged and can’t be opened' error message solution
This same issue is seen not only on 1997's Riven: The Sequel to Myst, but on Macs trying to play 1999's Myst: Masterpiece Edition, as well.

It should be possible to launch the game after following the steps below

- Right click on the game in your Steam games library.
- Select Manage > Browse Local Files.
- Right click on the app itself and select Open.
- Open System Settings on your Mac, navigate down to Privacy & Security, then scroll all the way down.
- Click the Open Anyway button.
- In the small dialog window that opens, click Open and the game will launch.

There should be an Open Anyway button after you attempted to open the app and got the cancel/move to trash message.

After clicking the Cancel button when it said the app is damaged, the option to open it appeared in the Privacy & Security tab in System Settings.

This process only needs to be done once for the game to open properly going forward.

:steamthumbsup: This little hack works, but they still need to update the app to fix it.

It doesn't work. I even uninstalled and reinstalled. Have emailed support.

Cyan Support and the QA Team are investigating this, Howard (you have a new email from them). They won't be back in office until Monday, though. Thank you for your patience as they look into this asap next week.
