Is there a pause in this game/mod?

Hello! I've seen lots of complaints about achievemnts being broken, and have experienced it myself. But I couldn't really figure out the exact circumstances to them not working... Until now. I'm 100% certain that the achievements only work if you create a new character (and start from wave 1, the beginning, but i can't confirm that). I have played for three hours straight to unlock that damn Jack achievemnt and some other ones aswell. It worked because I started fresh from the first wave. Now, after loadi...

it seems to play music and place the backgroud pic but the all the buttons like signle player and multiplayer settings exit are not appearing
