Aligned in Purpose is a load of hot crap

Set it up finally after getting a character I could work with (Krull enables Artemis for me). I laid out my party, went to bed with game running... And I wake up to literally every character blocked out in my party. Only ones left were Krull and Arty stalled at 1150. Every one else was X out.

Vin, Torgor both examples of who was X ed out. Couldn't add them back to formation. I've waited for what seems like ever to finally get this variant done and yet again this game has screwed me out of a victory by glitching up.

I just went and restarted the variant and now it's letting me add characters that aren't on same alignment as Krull is. Am I missing something here because I feel like I am.

No help but remember that some characters have feats that allow them to change alignment. Orkira for example. You may find that useful.

It is NOT recommended to run variants dependent on chosen champions in background mode, especially if some other party clears a different variant at the same time. IIRC, appropriate glitches still remain unfixed :(. Check who is your current chosen champion, and if you don't like them complete some other variant.

Thats been what I've been doing is Mirt variant runs and checking who pops up. I did notice that time gates did not change who was selected. I guess I'm going to have this and a few others remain unfinished for a bit. The Roulette ball one is another that will be sitting a while. I don't like the chance based variants that i have to babysit.

Good luck for when you do get around to it. Windfall is a nice alternative to Wren as a crowd-control champion...even if her 'biggest column' support mechanic can be *very* problematic in more than a few formations. Like Tomb or Xaryxis, where you either can't use 'behind them' support champions, or you can't use 'in front of them' support champions.

...on the other hand, she targets the whole formation in Fortunes Wheel. :P

I was able to test this during the last event. A time gate or event adventure will reroll those selected champs, but ONLY if it is an variant you haven't run before. Checking before and after each run, one of my flex champs got this result from one variant out of three, and it was the one I hadn't done as a time gate.
Note - Any new event character should get you three of those rerolls.

Ditto. I did their no patron versions without too much difficulty, but decided to ignore the patron ones. Unlike them, Betraying the Betrayer ones are relatively predictable.

In theory, roulette variants aren't that much different from other champion elimination variants - you lose approximately one champion per every 50 areas cleared. Their main problem is champion elimination randomness. It forces you to spread your legendary items among a larger number of champions - you have to have at least a couple of backups in every seat, and even that won't guarantee your success due to RNG and possible chain reactions.
