In this update the campaign has been the primary focus, we felt for a while it was a bit rough around the edges so it was time to touch it up a bit :)

-Added voice over to the tutorial (technically this was done in a previous un-announced patch)
-Fixed some typos in the tutorial
-Added voice acting to all the campaign cutscenes
-Added new unit lines for the Main character, Boba & Tobias
-Refined the intro for chapter 1
-Changed the skybox in chapter 1
-Fixed the objective in chapter 1
-Fixed the animated portrait of the main character in chapter 4
-In Chapter 3 all the enemy bots are now correctly on the same team
-The over all difficulty of chapter 3 has been increased
-Decreased the victory objective in chapter 3 from 26 to 21 minutes.
-Bots will now correctly use their starting units in Chapter 3
-Fixed some invisible units in Chapter 3
-Increased brightness in Transylvania
-Added and updated some loading frame portraits (credit to FylkirValdr)
-Increased the volume of the Victory and Defeat music
-Attempted a fix for a few players not able to play multiplayer

Hello everyone,

Before going forward and explaining what we've got for you this time around, we want to explain the thought process behind it.

A while ago we made the game "semi" "free to play", by opening up the matchmaking to everyone, but having the campaign, map editor and custom games locked behind the definitive edition. It seemed to confuse players more than it did good, and at the same time we really just want people to enjoy what we've created more than earning a bit extra.
So the definitive edition has been retired and from this day all content is now available to everyone!

With this decision we of course didn't want to make the people that supported us and bought the definitive edition (you got this if you bought the original game once it was pay to play as well) to feel cheated. So we brainstormed a bit, and believe we came up with a very good solution!

With this completely free to play approach we have added a new currency called "gems", which can be used to unlock different cosmetics and skins.
But owners of the Definitive Edition will be able to earn these gems purely by playing at the same rate as they previously earned Dimensional Gold.

So in a nutshell if you've previously supported us by buying the game, you never have to spend anything again. We've also created this view which you can see below to get a quick overview:

First of all we hope you've all had a happy new year, and wish you nothing but success in 2021.
Before we get to the patch notes we want to highlight something very special.
Because in December 2020 one of our players reached the incredible feat of getting 1000 wins in the game!

-Fixed edge cases where the post game stats wouldn't show for the campaign.
-Fixed chapter 4’s minimap.
-Fixed chapter 4 prisoners’ minimap sprites showing incorrectly.
-You can now go over the population cap using multi unit spawns
-Chapter 5’s jarls now switch teams when below 10% hp
-Jarls can now switch teams more than once
-Fixed the cultist archer animations
-Decreased bounty hunters from 4 to 2 to prevent early game snowballing
-Fixed some bugs which caused bounty hunters to not always spawn correctly
-Improved overall networking performance, especially in terms of having multiple matches running simultaneously
-Removed Halloween menu theme and reverted back to the standard one
-Fixed bounty hunters always spawning in the center of the region banner
-Added dwarf army
-Added 1000 wins portrait frame
-You can now kill your own units by double tapping delete (multiplayer only)


Bot Improvments:
-Bots now send banner spawns when they are full instead of at 4
-Bots now have a separate naval group that deals with island logic
-Bots no longer send troops from the main land to attack islands without a boat
-Bots no longer move island banner units unless attacked
-Bots now use their towers on islands to attack the island

Hotfix 26-01-2021 for Chapter 5

-Fixed If you were defeated in the campaign you would still get the rewards
-Fixed some Jarls kept respawning and stayed hostile
-Alliance changes are now reflected in the leaderboard
-Alliance changes should now happen instantly for existing units

This year our Halloween event has coincided with one of our largest updates so far, so quite a lot of fixes and new additions.

-Added new Halloween map "Transylvania"
-In-game unit portraits are now animated
-Profile tab in the menu has been overhauled
-Fixed Tutorial achievement not always unlocking properly
-Fixed that everyone got the eliminated message when a bot was eliminated
-Medics no longer heal boats and tanks by default
-Added new tech Field Repairs (allows medics to repair tanks and boats.)
-Added a tech tree level requirement text
-If a unit is moving when you start entrenching they will now stop
-Redid particles for the 25g mages
-Firepoint of British Sniper has been adjusted
-Added a few more details to the menu chat
-Fixed that afk'ing for too long in the chapter 2 intro cutscene could make the start button dissapear
-Gave the profile tab an experience bar
-Minor UI improvement to the menu settings
-Chat will now clear when you join a new lobby
-Fixed the main menu panel showing if you hosted a room within 30 seconds of hosting another
-The Chat no longer opens when the game is paused
-Pausing now closes the chat
-Fixed a bug that sometimes disconnected from server message instead of defeat
-Improved the logic for when bots will defend their controlled regions
-Fixed the animated portrait of the Baron in the campaign would stop working if you loaded a save
-Bounty hunters will now no longer spawn if there are bounty hunters already under the banner
-Improved a bit the camera movement
-Added a text value field for Music/sfx sliders in the ingame and lobby options
-Units built should now no longer be able to stack on each other if there was no waypoint set
-Veterancy now additionally grant 20 hp and 2 dmg for each kill that unit gets
-Fixed the in game tech tree tooltip ui didn't fit on any other resolutions than 1920x1080
-Fixed a bug where the bounty hunter kill reward would be multiplied if you had multiple bounty hunters attack at once
-Fixed the tutorial ui didn't fit on any other resolutions than 1920x1080
-Removed the LOD levels on the tutorial's sunken castle
-Bots will now unload units from boats more effenciently
-Fixed the wood elf bolt thrower mesh
-Fixed the Japanese tank's animations

For this update we've remade the tutorial as it was one of the first things we created years ago, hence it was quite outdated and probably didn't give the best first impression to new players.

-Fixed the range of the medieval archers tech (it was wrongly set to increase by 5 instead of 2 per level)
-Fixed a bug where the splash damage tech would stop working if you researched techs after it.
-Fixed a bug where you couldn't join a custom game after leaving a campaign match
-Queued matches no longer break if the first player to join the queue closed their game as it was starting
-Added a message to the in game chat when a player gets eliminated
-Added a select border for the selected skin
-Self destruct tech can now be researched correctly
-Added a message that techs need to be dragged out after unocking them

Hi guys, some balance changes and fixes before our tournament tomorrow.

Patch notes:

-Fixed US Officer animations
-Decreased mortar explosives tech to be 10/20/30% Splash damage and reduced range from 4 to 3
-Fixed a bug where units on boats wouldn't die right away when the boat got destroyed
-Fixed medics being able to heal boats and tanks when using a skin
-Units that die on boats can now self destruct
-Fixed a bug where you sometimes couldn't get your campaign rewards

Patch notes:

-Fixed a bug where you could control units that were not currently selected
-Fixed the selection tool not deselecting other units if the mouse ends over the ui
-Fixed a bug where you could select objects more than once
-Added shift deselecting towers/banners

-Fixed an error that prevented new players from starting the game
