Wolfenstein III when???
I mean, it's been 7 years since they released the sequel. Is there any reliable info/scoops about wheather there will be a third game that take place before the events of Youngblood?

"Decision paralysis is when someone is unable to make a decision due to being overwhelmed by options or fear of making the wrong choice. It can also be called analysis paralysis or choice paralysis." - Google

We don't know when so I'll just talk about the time period the game might take place. First of all, MachineGames and/or Bethesda having said explicitly said that Youngblood is a spinoff, nor have they confirmed whether it is canon or not. If it ends up being canon, then Wolfenstein 3 should go like this: Start where Youngblood left off, with the focus being to time travel back to the 1960's. Then the game should take place around the time of Hitler's supposed death (Around 1962-1965), only this time now to have to stop the weather machine that was causing the Apocalypse we saw in Youngblood. Then go back to the 1980's to stop the 4th Reich and end the Nazis once and for all. Essentially the game would be divided into 3 acts as a result.

F*ck knows, it's been in development since 2018, and in the meanwhile they've been making the Indiana Jones game since the spinoffs didn't make enough money for managlement's liking.

Man this sucks... I hope eventually Bethesda keeps their word and let them to make a third game. I wouldn't want this series to suffer the same fate as Deus Ex or Dead Space, which were abandoned w/o an epic conclusion.:steamsad:

Oh I suspect it will eventually come out, Machine Games seem to know how to get Zenimax to let them do stuff and now Zenimax has MS money behind it too. Though this is also the same company that pushed for Redfall to be such a sh*tshow and then closed down Arkane Austin for mistakes made by Zenimax...

But yeah, the way EA treated DS was utterly ♥♥♥♥, but that's MBA grads for you, totally disconnected from reality. Fortunately given the remake of DS1 went really well, I suspect a remake of DS2 is in initial stages at the moment with tentative plans to rework DS3 to be more true to the DS spirit.

As for Deus Ex - that's entirely on Square Enix being idiots par excellence, combined with THQ Nordic being greedy idiots who forgot business 101 when it comes to game publishing - namely balance your growth and income vs debt or you will fall apart. But nooo, they just had to bet it all on getting yet another investment round that wasn't guaranteed. And then panicked and forgot that the best way of debt is to make stuff to sell while selling off stuff you can't use.

And it really doesn't help the big publishers a) panicked recently and decided to fire thousands to appease the stock market idiots and b) are still myopically focused on "big hits". Forgetting the lessons learnt over game dev history, which is that mid level games do actually help the bottom line by generating new IP's and providing a reliable income source + give devs more experience.

You're not wrong for wondering where Machine Games is currently. I'm convinced the team is suffering from burn out on wolfenstein stuff.

New Order 2014
Old Blood 2015
New Colossus 2017
Youngblood 2019

its been about 5 years, and we don't even have an announcement. Just a guarantee from pete hines. We only have results of an increase in job listings for the studio of the game that only started happening in 2023, so I imagine it'll come out, but the time of when doesn't seem any time soon tbh.

Hopefully never if it's made my Machine Games. This game had some of the cringiest writing I've ever seen. Complete woke trash.

Oh, and Youngblood was even worse.

Youngblood was co-developed with Arkane Lyon, whom are now working on Marvel's Blade (lol). MachineGames is about to release the new Indiana Jones game this month, so hopefully we will see some news about Wolfenstein after that. (I am guessing that the Indiana Jones game came with a truck of money, giving it priority over Wolfenstein unfortunately)

Youngblood was fun. It was more "adorkable" than woke really. Still a pretty big tonal shift tho

Based on the storyline of the games, Youngblood is actually Wolfenstein III. And according to the number of reviews for each of them, sales have been getting lower and lower.
I think we'll have to wait for a new reboot.

W-Colossus always seemed to me to be too ambitious - like trying to fit ALL of WW2 into a one and a half hour movie. I mean in the 1st game Nazis had taken over the entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ world - all of Africa - all of Asia - all of South America - all of North America and all of Russia. ALL OF IT. For many years.

Reversing all of that is not only going to be a tough fight to kill the Nazi occupiers - it'll be damned near impossible for each liberated state to NOT devolve into civil war. (Especially if all your resources are going into fighting an ongoing war) And then who is qualified to fill the jobs? The same logistics came up with Star Wars of who the ♥♥♥♥ is gonna run the place now?

So it really does point to time-travel - do or do not? Do - and kill a timeline and all the people in it - OR - do not and have to negotiate with Nazis to give up the swastika for another flag to keep the world from eating itself. It's all far too much to think about when the game is all about shooting the badguys.

Nah Youngblood is a spin off, it's the equivalent of Old Blood for the first one, which was a tribute to RTCW.

Except Old Blood is an immediate prequel to New Order.
