Have you downloaded the correct version?
It's the bottom line you have to download with the description "Current VR build 2.0.12 (game version 1.4.15):"
This version hasn't changed since I've downloaded it in 2020 and it still works fine for my modded playthrough.

I did download that version. Then I read this lower down: "If you are using the latest version on Steam, download the AE build. The older build supporting 1.5.97 is still around to support people who have downgraded their installation or otherwise prevented updates." I tried downloading the AE build, but now it just black screens after the initial Bethesda Screen. Argh I just wanna play some Skyrim VR with those three mods that saved the game.

I used Vortex to install it and the other mods, should I have done something else?

I have a newer version of Vortex and that option isn't appearing in the bell.

I tried the manual install which was different than what I was doing(just putting the whole zip file initially downloaded), but that gets the same problem. Script Extender not working. push any button, but no button does anything.

Ok I uninstalled. Deleted the Skyrim VR folder. Reinstalled. Then downloaded all those mods including the script extender with the "get more mods" button on vortex and downloading the vortex installers. All except Skyrim UI which didn't have one. Now it works. Thank you all for the help.

it's working fine for me.

manually installed sksevr (drag n drop)

then used modinstaller to add vrik etc

for manual install copy the contents of the sksevr_2_00_12 folder in the zip file into your Skyrim VR directory, i.e. don't just extract the zip file as is

Thanks but neither of those worked.

(edit: Ok I'm an idiot. I had problems even starting the game at first. Starting Steam VR and then the game fixed that. Well Starting Steam VR and then navigating to the sksevr_loader and loading that and well it works now. Thanks everyone for trying to help)

after installing SKSEVR you then need to make sure that vortex is launching the game through sksevr loader. this is a great video that explains all the steps for some of the more important and sometimes confusing mods. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYDDV339zMU&t=765s

you may also get notifications from vortex that says the mod can't find sksevr. usually just restarting vortex will fix the problem.

That message about latest version relates to standard Non VR Skyrim ie SE or the AE (Anniversery Edition) For VR you need the 2.00.12 VR edition none other will work.

This ♥♥♥♥ was such a pain, as a noob modder what I did was disable all mods, uninstalled vortex and skyrim vr, then reinstalled everything and it worked. Again im a noob so im sure people here got better suggestions but its what I managed to do to get it working. I also got the it was conflicting

for anyone using vortex ive found that launching skyrim from the occulus/regular steam ends up causing the skse/sky ui error. From what ive found to work is to 1. launch skyrim vr from vortex via the play button on the top left corner by the skyrim icon and 2. restarting vortex when you have the errors. ive also found that certain mods can interupt this error and that sometimes disabling and reenabling your mods sometimes fixes it
