Any way to disable worker sounds?
Those hammering/digging sounds they make while they're working on an improvement.

Drives me crazy.

I avoided it when possible, but you can still hear it even when pretty zoomed out, and when I have to zoom in on an area to do something/decide what I'm going to do, I have to mute the game just so I can't hear them.

Which is a pity, because I love the music.

I know there's a "Disable environment sounds" toggle in audio settings, but this doesn't affect worker sounds.

Bonus points if there's a way to disable just thunder sounds (which I also hate) without disabling all the other environmental sounds (which I like).

A mod would work. I made something similar for a player who didn't like the city open audio, which you could adapt. See https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3366060063

All the audio assets are listed in audio.xml, the reference for which can be found in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Old World\Reference\XML\Infos\

Find the lines relating to worker audio, copy them to the audio-change.xml file in the mod and remove the <Asset> lines. Voila!

Well now I kind of want to play it just to see... lol (well, hear)
just spitballing but maybe there's a way to delete the sound, or make a mod with a new sound that's just empty
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I considered that, but a quick look through the game files didn't make it obvious what I'd have to change. Was hoping for a "sounds" folder or something like that...

This sounds promising, thank you!

Where can I find the mod's files, though, once I've installed it?

Looking at the game folders, the only audio-change.xml I can find is in the \XML\Mods\EgyptCampaign\Infos\ folder, and that's there independently from the mod, it seems (or, at least, it's still there after I uninstall the mod).

Is that the file I should change, or is there another somewhere else?

Thanks!

Mods get installed to the Mods subfolder of your config directory, which is located by default in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\OldWorld\

If you install the mod the folder with audio-change in will be in
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\OldWorld\Mods\Disable city open audio\Infos

This is the file you will need to change.

The reference file you are looking for is audio.xml rather than audio-change.xml, which will be in the path I listed in my previous post

Of course. I should have thought to look there, sorry. Only looked in the game's base install folder.

It works! Thank you!

Took me a while to figure out mods only work with new games, I was wondering what I was doing wrong, but all's well now.

I made a new mod, but the description doesn't show up in the mod list ingame.

Any idea why this might be, off the top of your head? It doesn't really matter, and I don't want to waste more of your time if it's not a simple answer.

The important thing is that it works, which it does. Having things display correctly would just be icing, if it's a simple fix.

I used your ModInfo.xml file as a template and read "Creating Old World Mods" from the modding page[mohawkgames.com] on the Mohawk games site.

Used the following tags in my ModInfo file: displayname, description, modversion, modbuild, singleplayer, multiplayer.

Do you mean on the game parameters whilst in game (hovering over the top left menu icon? You should see the Mod name in the Active mods list here, though not the description.

Or on the Mods Manage page? Check the Upload tab, you can edit the Description there and it should show on the Manage list. It's possible if you used a text editor on the ModInfo.xml file there is some formatting issue there.

I meant the Mods Manage page.

Adding the info on the Uploads tab did the trick, thanks!

I had just written stuff directly in Notepad++ and saved from there, guess something was missing.

Thanks for all your help!
