Stuttering / Crackling Audio
Did anyone else have issues with this? I feel like this is a game I would really enjoy, but ... the stuttering / crackling audio makes it almost unbearable to play.

Nope.

I get this sometimes after a while in the game, especially when the new turn is simulated/calculated. It is not „unbearable“, but nevertheless a pity for the nice soundtrack, which gets butchered.

I do.

It's the only game that shows this behaviour too, so it must be something in the settings, yet I've tried everything in the graphics and audio settings so far with no luck. Searching a bit further shows that it might be unity engine related, but no solution found so far...

If the audio issues are during the AI turn, this might be the AI calculations taking all available CPU resources. There is an option in the UI settings for 'Slow AI' that might help in this case.

Sadly it's during the entirety of the game, even during the start up menu the music is stuttering. It's more bearable and less noticeable if I turn off background music, but I can still hear it during random sounds or melodies that play during events.

I have an RTX 3090 with a top end CPU as well (and played almost every modern game at 4k resolution on ultra graphics without issues), so I doubt it's resources related.

So, I've discovered that my issue actually goes away in much later turns of a game, turn 120+ or such. This mostly seems to be because the game at that point seems to have more to do...

So the root cause of the stuttering / crackling audio currently seems to be my CPU or GPU being too powerful for the game(?)

I have the problem too
Just purchased the game with DLC to find the amazing soundtrack is ruined by intermittent audio stuttering, approx once every 30 seconds, menu items click sounds seem to have a slight delay.

Running on a 32Gb Macbook Pro M2 Apple silicon.

What a great start! So I guess I disable to music now or something?

Edit Solved:
I changed heaps of settings in game and steam. I can't yet be sure what it is that worked exactly. But I disabled a bunch of Steam Stuff. Like Steam Overlay and a heap of Steam features and settings I don't use. I ran the game in Fullscreen rather than borderless, changed graphic settings back to high and this seems to be running the sounds better now.

My guess is that the issue was either borderless or some steam overlay junk that was interrupting the program or something.

Hope this helps if someone has the same issue.
