They would sell a lot more if they put out a discount of at least 50% off which at this point that's what it's worth, they are not pricing it correctly to maximize profit. Now you might say, ok their profits are none of my business, they have the right to decide their own price, sure, but if lowering the price benefits BOTH the buyer and the seller compared to keeping it at launch price then it's not even out of greed, it's out of some kind of misplaced pride which i think says a lot about the hubris of the dev(s).
But I do understand the sentiment that the game has been out for just under two years and possibly should get discounted more as a result. I think that the console release only being this year might skew that kind of perspective from the devs, maybe the seven year development is affecting things too in making money back.
Stop being a cheapskate. The game is cheap for what you get.
never paid $25 for an indie platformer, never will. shove it.
You are one of the most deluded, mathematically incompetent people I've seen in a long while.
Steam Revenue Calculator estimates this game at 1.035 million in gross sale since launch, before tax, discounts. and refunds. as well as Steam's cut. About 305k of that would have gone to developers. Divide by seven years of development time plus two years since release, and you have this making enough to pay $34,000 annually back to the entire development team combined from Steam sales. It did just release on consoles a few months ago and will hopefully pay a lot more back from that, but it would need to make a lot more to be called a financial success, given the time it took to develop.
I imagine one reason there hasn't been a sharper discount yet is to maintain the game's price parity for the console release.
$25 is a pitifully low amount of money in 2024. It's clear how you don't appreciate other people's labor.
I was going to say, there’s a VERY good reason a sequel that took 7 years to make, is 2 and a half times the size of the original, has been rated overwhelmingly positive for a year and a half, and has the sonic mania lead dev brought in to help stick the landing (which btw sonic mania overtook adventure 2 as the franchise’s highest rated title. Love sonic or hate him thats HUGE) costs more than the original game. And can’t give a half off discount upon request.
Like literally there’s so much game here.
Going by save file play time, Lilac’s campaign in the original alone - counting ALL deaths - took me about 4-5 hours to Beat.
By comparison, a full clear of lilac’s campaign in the sequel, doing everything except an all achievement run and counting all deaths, took me a full *26* hours to beat.
Well I guess the market decided on $25 then🤷♂️
Yet a quick visit to steamdb shows the game goes on sale at pretty much all of steams regular sales.
B-U-T your exact words were, and I quote:
So I guess thats it then. Bye!
