Tokyo Xanadu eX+ is the kind of game that wants to be the cool kid at the Persona table, but let’s be real — it’s sitting somewhere in the back, wearing last season’s graphics and hoping nobody notices. Even if everything feels a bit derivative and low-budget, Tokyo Xanadu eX+ still manages to be a comfort food for people who can’t get enough of that Persona vibe. It will feel familiar, satisfying, and a little cheesy, but you can’t help going back for more (well at least i could'nt). This JRPG serves up a blend of dungeon crawling with action-RPG elements and high-school drama, topped with a side of supernatural intrigue. Think Persona-lite, but without the existential dread — it’s more ‘save the world’ and less ‘question your life choices.’

The character design, while competent, fits right into the typical anime-JRPG mold, but none of the cast truly stands out. It’s functional, but definitely not memorable. The music, however, is a different story, featuring several catchy, Falcom-quality tracks that really rock out. Overall, it's a solid effort from Falcom.

The PC port, though, feels like a bit of a letdown. Sure, you can crank up the frame rate, but expect to deal with stutters, random drops, and a general sense of ‘why does this game look like this and still run like that?’ — even with a beefier rig. Despite its flaws, I can still recommend the game if you’re a JRPG fan craving an action fix and you want something with a more Persona-esque vibe."
