I've noticed that depression and the effects it has on people's lives seem to be a recurring theme; I started with Strawberry Vinegar, which was fun, and I was surprised how much I connected with The Way We All Go, Asphyxia and Sweetest Monster from the viewpoint of a person with clinical depression and social anxiety. These are some of the most realistic portrayals of both I've seen in media, period. I actually wonder... Does the author know someone who had clinical depression?
