That said, I feel like charge blade is kind of the perfect weapon, especially if you like to play solo. It covers all the bases - it will hit fast and has good mobility in sword and shield mode, but with slower, massive damage bursts in axe mode. You can use that mobility and roll for evasion or block/guard point with the shield and hardly move at all. It does slicing damage to cut tails, but also big bonk damage for KOs. It can be very simple (fill your phials, charge your shield, go to work) or as complex as you want it to be (guard point with instant AED reaction counters, flipping in and out of axe mode for a single hit), and when you get really good at it, the combat flow is a beautiful dance. It's really a "play it your way" kind of weapon that does it all.
...and hitting a monster in the head with a full pizza cutter SAED is big time fun.
Hope i helped u
You can easily say the same for Switch axe, save for the defense aspect, when you're not being barked at you're playing wrong for not spamming ZSD.
Flowing, endless combos that can weave in-and-out of attacks while racking up decent damage and statuses (My go-to is a Safi Para-exhaust).
