Part 4, cave with suspended rock platforms
I stopped playing the game after arriving at this section. I spent 35 hours or so just getting through the Valley and to this point. Don't know how complex this part is, raising and lowering the rock platforms with weights and hopping across the pathway that drops you down to the basement if you step on the wrong spot. It looks like quite a struggle in the video walkthrough that I saw, though it does appear that the parts of the path that you identify stay lit up and accessible if you have to start from the beginning again. A very similar idea in a game I played years ago had a suspended path that regenerated in a different configuration every time you missed and fell through. Never did finish that game.

35 hours? Seriosly?! I have only 17 hours at all, that includes finishing game once while freely exploring with no rush and then replaying for achievements.

It's chapter 3 actually, part of it.

What struggle is there, exactly? You don't need to guess, the path is literally shown to you. Also you can jump over wrong blocks if you're sure you'll land on a safe place.

Seriously. Your mileage may vary, of course. Much of the time was spent acclimatizing myself to the mechanics, figuring out what mattered in terms of avoiding the annoying monster, and trying to find the glass shards that make up a door that you want to go through at the end of this section, time that included back-and-forth with a very knowledgeable player who was gracious enough to answer questions about really obscure locations where some of the shards were to be found.

Anyway, after I suspended play for a while, I had a Windows-related crash where I had to restore my computer laboriously from backed-up files, and of course the progress of all Steam games was lost. I wouldn't dream of starting Aporia again from the beginning.

What about cloud saves? IIRC Aporia supports Steam Cloud.

I don't know anything, really, about Steam Cloud. If your game is uninstalled by having to reload Windows, would Steam Cloud be of any help? Or does it have to be actively engaged by the player before an event happens that requires reinstalling Windows?

By default it's on and you don't have to do anything at all. For games that support it Steam automatically syncs files before/after the game so you can e.g. play on different PCs alternately. And of course Steam Cloud restores saves after game/OS/Steam reinstall.
Not all games support it but still quite a lot.
