I guess it's just a message to start backing up saves on a regular basis, as there's no anti-cheat mod for this game nowadays.
- Search for the invaders profile on your recent player's list and block all communication. He won't be able to invade you again. ( works in DSR and DS3, in ER as well)
- When you place your summon sign to play coop, you don't need to be in human form, only the host needs to reverse hollowing. But invaders can do such stuff to phantoms as well, and it's also possible to get a cheating host.
- When playing coop, always kill your boss first, so can nobody invade you in this area. Of course only if you don't plan to host there yourself or do some gravelording, in that case you would need your boss alive.
- Make a manual backup save every day ( copypaste it somewhere else) When something bad happens, you can delete your whole save and replace it with your backup.
But IF you get banned, then it affects the whole save, not only one char. Anyway, it was a good idea to delete the char, when he was just in early game. For now I would suggest, prepare for similar situations in future and make regular backups. And don't worry too much what will maybe happen, or maybe not, we don't know.
Also: in case you get banned, and it's your first ban, you can send a ticked to Bandai Namco and request an unban, they will lift your ban then after checking your save. So..don't worry for now)
It is VERY good idea to backup your saves after you exit your game.
I lost a 20 hour char in Dark souls 2.....and it infected all my newly created chars....until I deleted him....which fixed my game.
So lost all progress.
Albeit since then DS2 got the blue acolyte mode.
There are also hacks that kills your area boss which might seem helpful but you can miss out on intended boss fights.
So best to backup your saves and if you got hacked overwrite your save so you lost only a ltitle progress.
In DS1 and 3 you can also check recently played with steam list and ban any suspected hackers.
Banned players can not interact with you.
Also, if I want to help other players with a boss, do I have to first kill the boss in order to not get invaded? I heard that you can't invade someone in an area where they defeated the boss, like Undead Parish gargoyle's for example.
- the area boss alive
- be in human form ( reverse hollowing)
When only one of this requirements is present, you can't get invaded.
And that's the reason many players do low level PvP at Undead Burg, because the Taurus Demon can be skipped and stay alive forever. Players can host there PvP, also can be a gravelord servant.
To help other players in coop you can play in hollow form !!! Must not be human.
The file's called DRAKS0005.sl2. Just copy it elsewhere for safe keeping and then copy it back if need be. I've got a folder with 100-odd folders inside in date order, each containing a different save.
I got banned once cuz I was trying out a VR mod and forgot to uninstall it when I took my game online. Next time I booted up DS, a window popped up in-game before the main menu showed up saying I was flagged for suspicious activity and either couldn't play online or had no way to summon/be summoned.
Sent a ticket to Bandai Namco and explained the situation, a day later they were like "okie dokie" and unbanned me. After that, I no longer had that warning window after booting up the game.
