Siegmeyer Questline:Chaos Eaters jumped into a death pit
Ok, so, I went down there to grab some loot. When I hopped into the poison to make my way around the room, I noticed I was gaining souls. It wasn't until I look into the pit that I realized what happened. All of the Chaos Eaters JUMPED INTO THE DEATH PITS. The only one left is up on the ledge guarding an item.

I assume Siegmeyer's questline is screwed as a result. Can anyone confirm?

Most likely yes. To continue his questline you need Siegmeyer to jump down into the pit, and let him fight at least against one Chaos Eater, otherwise you won't trigger his dialogue after the fight.
Next time: don't jump down to pick up loot. Allways do the quest first. You can shot the Chaos Eaters from above with a Bow, and let alive only one of them ( the one's in the centre, under Siegmeyer). Then talk to Siegmeyer, until he jumps down. This way you'll make sure that he survives the fight with enough hp left.
But when the necessary Chaos Eaters didn't respawn in your game, you can only do this on another playthrough or on ng+.

Man...Why do they aggro from so far away?
