I'm not sure why this is unlisted but not rolled into the anniversary edition. You have to install and launch it separately. Also, it bangs.

Set on the war-torn planet of Sub-Sector Aurelia, you choose one of six factions to lead in a campaign that’s less about saving the galaxy and more about surviving it.

At its core, Retribution keeps the same squad-based, tactical gameplay that made Dawn of War II so engaging. There’s no base-building—this is all about using a small number of elite units to outmaneuver and outgun your enemies. Each squad is essential, and micromanagement is key.

Each faction plays slightly differently, but the real joy of the game comes from mastering the rhythm of tactical combat. You’ll need to know when to send in your assault squads, when to pull back, and when to call in the big guns.

The multiplayer mode, particularly The Last Stand, is where Retribution truly shines. It's a cooperative mode where players fight off endless waves of enemies while controlling powerful hero units. It's chaotic, challenging, and absurdly fun, especially when you're desperately trying to hold the line with a few health points left.

For a game released in 2011, Retribution holds up surprisingly well in the visual department. The environments are bleak and war-torn, as you'd expect from Warhammer 40K, with enough diversity between jungle ruins, urban battlegrounds, and alien-infested wastelands to keep things interesting.

The character models, particularly for the hero units, are packed with detail. From the hulking Terminators to the snarling Ork Warbosses, everything is grimy, gritty, and ready for war. It’s not the most polished game out there today, but it still captures the brutal aesthetic of Warhammer 40K’s universe perfectly.

The sound design in Retribution is, like the rest of the series, superb. The voice acting is suitably dramatic—whether it’s the stoic Space Marines, the gleefully violent Orks, or the ethereal Eldar, every line is delivered with the kind of gusto you’d expect from characters locked in an eternal war.

The battle sounds are equally satisfying. Bolters thunder, chainswords rev with brutal intensity, and the battlefield is alive with the noise of war. Whether it’s the crash of a tank’s cannon or the psychic wail of an Eldar Farseer, Retribution ensures that every battle sounds as epic as it looks.

Dawn of War 2: Retribution is a fitting end to the Dawn of War II saga. While it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it refines the tactical gameplay that made the series popular and adds a level of variety with its multiple campaigns and factions.
