We're excited to announce Patch 1.5.1! Send and receive trade offers by using our new in-game trading system, now set-up for cross-platform trading once Witch It releases on consoles later this year. View your inventory in-game, try our new aim-assist for gamepads, and witness improved performance on older PC's. Read on! 🎉

In order to receive trade offers, you must first toggle your Witch It account settings to ensure your inventory is visible. To find your account settings, press on your username in the main menu, then press the last tab with the cog icon. Here, you can enable your public inventory:

Our brand-new in-game trading system can be found under "Collection" > "Trading" on our new restructured main menu. ⚙️

On this screen, you will find three options to create trade requests, see pending requests, and view your trade history. 🔎

Press "Create Trade Request" to open a list containing all your Witch It friends. 🤝

To initiate a trade request, press the handshake icon corresponding with the friend you wish to trade with. In the future, we will add a way for you to trade with non-friends, too!

Select items to trade from your inventory by clicking on them under the "Mine" tab. You can see the active trade offer to the right, and if you want to remove an item just click on it in the offer!

Select items from their inventory by clicking on them under the "Theirs" tab. Once you're ready to send the offer, press "Send Trade Offer" in the bottom right! ✔️

Important Tips:
- If you are trading away the last of an item you own, a warning triangle will appear around the item quantity. Be careful not to trade away any items you wish to keep! ⚠️
- If an item in an offer is traded away elsewhere, all offers containing that item will automatically cancel. Be careful not to trade away identical items in multiple trades! ❌
- Both players do not need to be online in order to receive or accept trade offers - you can send requests to offline players! 💤

Press "Pending Trade Requests" to view all incoming and outgoing trade requests. 📬

On the "Incoming" tab, you can see incoming requests, and accept or reject these by pressing the corresponding buttons to the right of the offer.

On the "Outgoing" tab, you can see your outgoing requests. Cancel a request by pressing the corresponding button to the right of the offer.

Incoming trading requests will also appear as notifications in-game! 📨


Press "Trade History" to view a detailed list of all your previous trades.

Each trade shows the name and icon of the player you were trading with, a timestamp of the trade, whether it was an incoming or outgoing trade, and the status of the trade. Clicking on a trade will allow you to see what items were swapped, in case you need a quick reminder! 🔄

View your entire Witch It inventory by pressing on "Collection" > "Inventory". 👀

Press the "Filter" button to filter your inventory by type, team, slot, rarity, or duplicates!

Your Steam Inventory is still invisible, as we are still working on solutions for displaying your items without causing issues to our cross-platform system. 🪲

Struggling to hit fast-moving witches with your controller? 🎮
We've now added an aim assist to help you secure those eliminations!
Aim assist does not work with mouse and keyboard - only gamepads.

Aim assist does not lock onto still transformed props, so don't worry - your hiding spot is safe (probably)!

We've mixed together the finest and rarest ingredients into our portal fluid, releasing a satisfying burst of particles whenever you travel through them! 💫

7 years ago today, we revealed our first ever art contest, in which our community members designed paintings for Grunewald Library! 🖌️
Following the contest, three winners had their artwork implemented into Witch It as props, becoming an iconic addition to the game ever since.

We are delighted to finally announce the Dreamland Art Contest - a monumental competition in which your art could leave an impact on the game for many years to come! ːluaqː

We are looking to add 3 pieces of community art to our upcoming content update: Dreamland! ✨
Entrants will compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place judged by Barrel Roll Games and the Community Staff team.

🥇 1st Place - Your artwork will be placed in a gold frame and implemented as a playable prop!
🥈 2nd Place - Your artwork will be placed in a silver frame and implemented as a playable prop!
🥉 3rd Place - Your artwork will be placed in a bronze frame and implemented as a playable prop!

Dreamland is heavily inspired by countless fantasy stories and themes.

1️⃣ Pick whether you want a horizontal frame, or vertical frame.
You must create your art in the 8:5/5:8 aspect resolution. Here's our guidelines:

If you're creating artwork for a horizontal frame: 2560px x 1600px, 1920px x 1200px or 1280px x 800px.
If you're creating artwork for a vertical frame: 1600px x 2560px, 1200px x 1920px or 800px x 1280px.

2️⃣ Design your artwork and export it, ensuring you follow the rules below!
3️⃣ Upload your entry as a .png or .jpg image to #art-entries on our Discord server[www.discord.gg], or post your artwork underneath this Steam announcement!

You are allowed to name your artwork, but please note that we may change their names if used.

- Your artwork must relate to Witch It in some form.
- You must submit your artwork in the 8:5 or 5:8 aspect ratio (please see our guidelines above). If you win, your artwork will be downscaled to 128 x 80 or 80 x 128 based on Witch It's prop constraints, so please be mindful when adding intricate details - they might not appear in-game!
- You must own all elements of your art. Do not use (or commission) pictures or elements created by other people (Witch It content is fine to use)!
- Entry file format must be .png or .jpg.
- Your entry must follow our rules - no offensive content!
- Make sure your artwork fits the art style of Witch It.
- You can submit 2 entries maximum - but your second entry must be in a different resolution (for example, if you submitted a vertical painting, you can only create a horizontal painting next)!
- All users can enter, including previous contest winners and community staff.
- You can collaborate with other entrants if you wish, but be aware that this will count as an entry for all artists involved. Please list all collaborators alongside your entry!

🔨 Breaking these rules may result in disqualification from the contest!

Absolutely no full or partial AI-generated artwork is allowed to be submitted for this contest.
We may ask you for proof of creation, such as a layered file or progress pictures. If you can't provide at least one of these on request, your entry will be void. ⚠️

Patch 1.5.0 is here! In this update, we're excited to release an early version of our Creative 2.0 that will advance your map creation to unimaginable heights! In addition, we now have a new in-game friends system, and have made a lot of performance optimisations towards CPU and GPU. Check it out! 🎉

Welcome to Creative 2.0, our biggest technical leap to Creative Mode yet! 🚀

You'll immediately notice that Creative 2.0's camera works slightly different from usual. You now use right-click to rotate your camera. This is to keep our creative mode mechanically aligned with other popular creative modes and editing software, and will be much easier for console players to build maps once we enable controller use in the near future. 🕹️

By pressing Tab, you can now open a radial menu that allows you to select from Place, Edit, or Connect modes seamlessly:

Place Mode is used to place down props, structures and utilities into your map. In Creative 2.0, the placement menu has been condensed so you don't ever have to open and close the menu to see what you're doing. Your position in the placement menu will remain even after placing a prop (unless switching to another tab or mode), allowing for far more efficiency when you go to fill up your maps with props!

Edit Mode is used to modify specific parameters of your props. As usual, you can click a prop to select it for editing - however, you'll now see a useful properties menu appear in the corner of your screen. For the first time ever since Creative Mode was released, you can now type in specific values for position, rotation and scaling, allowing for mathematically accurate transformation of any prop or structure in your map.

Want to equally space out pillars in a building?
Increase one of the position values by 200 each time to create a perfect row! ✔️

Want to create a structures like Twisted House?
Modify the rotation value and copy it to all other props to create weird and wacky designs! ✔️

Need to enable an action prop?
Action props can be activated directly in edit mode! ✔️

Connect Mode is used to attach switches to switchable props or utilities. In Creative 2.0, you can connect and disconnect objects by shift-clicking them. Easily view all connections on a single switch by selecting the switch in connect mode, and disconnect all or selected connections via the menu.

Creative 2.0's Play Test mode allows you to test your creations and push their limits without damaging your hard work. When enabling Play Test via the server menu (ESC), you can now select your team and skills before starting the test. Physics are disabled by default in Creative 2.0, so Play Test is what you'll use to quickly enable physics and test your maps exactly as players will see it.

After starting the test, you can run around and play your maps as you wish. Knocking over props, using explosive skills like body slam, and breaking your maps is encouraged - as exiting Play Test will revert everything back to normal and return your props to their original positions! ↩️

Please be aware that this an early iteration of the new Creative Mode, so many things are still not yet finalised. In particular, controller and chat functions do not currently work and will be added in a later update. But there's good news - the Creative Mode structure limit has now been increased from 2000 to 2500! 🧱

Here's some handy shortcut keys that may help you in Creative 2.0:

Press 4 to change to Place Mode
Press 5 to change to Edit Mode
Press 6 to change to Connect Mode
Press 0 to change to Play Test Mode

With the upcoming console release and exploration of new platforms for Witch It, we are introducing a new in-game friends list. You can access it by pressing your profile in the top right of the main menu, or by opening the in-game menu during a match and pressing 'Friends'. 👥

Here, you can browse your list of in-game, online and offline friends. If you're currently in a match, you'll also have an option to invite your friend to the session. In this menu, you can also find recently played with players, pending friend invites, and account settings. ⚙️

In account settings, you can reveal your User ID and share with your friends to add them! ➕
Adding in-game friends does not affect your Steam friends list.

Players with low-end integrated graphics cards can now select the new "Start with Simple Shaders" launch option when starting Witch It, which will improve performance on old PCs.

Map collision has been entirely replaced with our new map border system, and we made several optimisations on gamecode which will improve CPU performance. 📈

In the in-game settings, there's a new option called "Prop Transform Grace Time". ✨
This refers to the amount of time you can transform into a prop even after it's not highlighted anymore.
While this is mainly for controller users to make it easier to transform while moving, this works just as well for PC players too!


1.5.0 - Creative Mode Update

+ Added: There is now a Simple Shader Mode for low end integrated graphics cards which will increase performance
+ Added: In-game friends system - You can now see your friends list and people you recently played with. Friends added via the new system are only friends within Witch It, they will not affect your Steam friends. To access the new system the button in the top right corner of the main menu has been replaced (you can change your icons under “Collection”)
