The New Z, The New Beginning, Battle Royale. What's the difference?
I think the first is the original game from 2016, the second is its add-on from an unknown year, and the third is the multiplayer from 2020.

But why are all these three modes represented by three separate games on different pages in Steam, if they all launch the same launcher with the same modes?

Originally released as WarZ in 2012. Then changed name to Infestation. The devs allowed cheaters to go rampant. The person who made the most popular cheats and contributed towards destroying the original game is also the person who copied it and made The New Z plus the other two versions of the game you mentioned. I was unfortunately a day 1 player in 2012. The game was only ever good in 2012 before the cheaters took over. It was something special at the time because the only other option we had to play was Dayz which was a buggy mess.
