This game feels like Life is Strange fan fiction rather than an actual cohesive prequel to the original game. David Madsen and Chloe Price have been flanderized so insanely it's insane this is official (especially since the original game already has some really one note characters, such as Principal Wells). This could've been great, but unfortunately it's a downgrade in every way compared to the original. Just skip to Life is Strange 2 or True Colors, both significantly better games than this garbage.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm is an emotional and captivating prequel that dives into the backstory of Chloe Price and her relationship with Rachel Amber. The narrative is rich and deeply engaging, exploring themes of friendship, loss, and rebellion. The story is well-written and the characters are incredibly relatable, making it a very enjoyable experience overall.

The game introduces a "Backtalk" mechanic, where Chloe can use her wit and attitude to get out of tricky situations, which adds a unique flavor to the interactions. The choices you make significantly impact the story, offering a lot of replayability as you explore different outcomes.

However, it's hard not to miss the "rewind time" mechanic from the original Life is Strange. This ability added a unique layer of complexity and depth to the gameplay, allowing players to experiment with different choices and see their immediate consequences. Without it, Before the Storm feels more like a standard walking simulator, which is a bit of a letdown.

While I understand that Before the Storm serves as a backstory for the first game, incorporating a mechanic like time travel would have made the story even more enjoyable and interesting. It's a shame this element is missing, as it could have elevated the game to new heights.

Overall, Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a touching and immersive experience that fans of the series will appreciate, but it lacks the innovative gameplay mechanics that made the original game stand out.

Honestly disappointed in this game :( All of the life is strange games have been 10/10 but this one was kinda just a let down.
It does not get into detail on how Rachel ended up getting with frank or how she was taken to the dark room which was what could of made this game great. Instead we just got to see how Rachel and Chloe became friends. That's it.

I wish I had played the prequel before diving into the main story. Knowing what happens afterward made the entire story around Chloe and Max even more tragic. Still, I was excited to immerse myself back into the world of "Life is Strange." Here and there, we got more insights into Chloe's mind, and a few scenes actually brought tears to my eyes. Nevertheless, it doesn't quite compare to the plot and gameplay experience of the main story.

For anyone looking to revisit the "Life is Strange" universe before the new game comes out, I would recommend it.

I am writing this review as warning: this is an offical fan fiction made by different developers.
I don't mind it. Of all fan fictions I have ever read, this might be one of the better ones.
There are so many canon-breaking mistakes and shoe-horned characters (Victoria?!), but I can tell that there was at least some passion involved into this game.

So, why is this "not recommended? If you want nostalgia and just a little bit more time with LIS characterts, then I can recommend it, this game was undoubtedly made by LIS fans for LIS fans. Be ready for different voice actors and be ready to roll your eyes at some many mistakes....the dates are all wrong!

I am just writting this as a warning. BTS might disappoint you.
