Here are the patch notes for the v125 update that has just been released. It should download automatically the next time you launch Outscape from Steam.

• Overpopulated colony rebalancing: population rate now declines x10 faster when a colony is overpopulated – based on the planet’s limit not the limit supported by farms. It’s still possible to overpopulate a planet temporarily, but doing so long-term and on a large scale isn’t feasible/worth doing.
  
• City centers’ boost to growth will no longer be applied if there isn’t enough power to support them or there’s a labour shortage.

• Fleet selection close to planets is now much easier. A selection menu will open when clicking on a planet’s label if it obscures one or more fleets and in other scenarios where it’s difficult to select an individual unit due to its proximity to other units. You can still hold the spacebar to hide labels, but this change enables you to avoid needing to do so.

• Resource transfer: it's now easier to transfer away all population from a colony. The population size is frozen while population is selected for transfer. If the entire population available at that moment is then ordered to be transferred, the colony will be abandoned (and any additional population generated in the meantime will also be included in the transfer if possible). This simplifies the solution we originally proposed[forum.outscape.net].
  
• Galaxy overview: planet size and land mass have been added to the 'Planets' tab (to make room for it, population happiness is now displayed on the 'My Empire' tab only)

• Having scanner visibility of another player's fleet(s) that merged, docked, or intercepted a fleet sometimes triggered a game client exception (this was partly addressed in a previous patch but the root cause has now been identified and fixed)
  
• Fleet management: selecting a fleet to change its position sometimes triggered a game client exception
  
• Planet management: the wrong planet icon was sometimes displayed relative to the planet's environment
  
• Galaxy overview:
  • A to Z sorting didn't work correctly on the planet name column
    
  • The happiness rate of the second population wasn't color-coded
    
  • Happiness didn't update for an organic 2nd population when Syntis were the 1st population
    
  • When the destination of a fleet was another fleet the correct icon wasn't displayed

Rebalanced Awaken the Dark Game Mode
Andradite is the 2nd generation of the ATD game mode and includes many improvements to balance: invasion launch countdowns, guard fleets, wider scanner coverage, more powerful higher level buildings. See the patch notes below for more details.

• Invasion launch countdown added: fleets can no longer launch invasions instantly from orbit. Once an invasion has been ordered it will only be launched if the end of the 12 minute countdown is reached (similar to how orbital bombing works). This gives guard fleets more of a chance to defend the invasion before it’s launched. Note: this change was added for all galaxies.
• Guard fleets: if an interception causes a guard fleet to leave the guard zone it will automatically return to the area just outside the system instead of entering it. Note: guard fleets are only in Awaken the Dark game mode galaxies right now.
• Balance changes for new Andradite galaxy only:
  • Surface resources: the maximum deposit sizes possible have been increased
  • Scanner ranges
    • Planetary
      • From: 35, 35, 35; To: 25, 35, 55 (LY, for levels 1 to 3)
    • Ship
      • From: 15, 20, 25; To: 12, 18, 24 (LY, for levels 1 to 3)
  • Ship hulls
    • Izzvil (People’s Realm): HP increased by 40 (cost increased relatively)
    • Alpha (Ripchee): HP decreased by 200 (cost decreased relatively)
  • All buildings
    • The first levels of buildings remain mostly the same and very affordable, but the higher levels are more expensive but also more powerful than before (in general, the power of the building’s main attribute doubles with each level increase).   • Mines
    • Level 2 and 3 mining speeds have been decreased by about 20% but Level 2 mines can now also deep mine (at about half the speed of level 3)
  • Military bases
    • Required population increased from 2,000 to 5,000 for all levels, but troops supported changed from: 1,500, 1,700, 1,900 to 1,250, 2,500, 5,000 (for levels 1 to 3)
  • Lab science power
    • From: 1, 2, 4; To: 1, 2, 6 (for levels 1 to 3)
  • Engine speeds reduced, energy provided increased
    • Base: boosted warp decreased from 4 to 3
      
    • Improved Warp Engine: boosted warp decreased from 5 to 4
      
    • Dark Energy Engine: boosted warp decreased from 7 to 6, energy increased 125W to 150W
      
    • Zero Gravity Engine: boosted warp decreased from 4 to 3, energy increased 175W to 200W
      
    • Hyperspace Energy Engine: energy increased 250W to 300W
      
    • Scout Engine: boosted warp decreased from 9 to 8
  • Ship parts
    • Shields & armor: power has been rebalanced to better reflect
    • Colonization modules: level 3 adds level 2 buildings and level 4 adds level 3 buildings (the same number of buildings are added, just the higher level versions of them)
  • Minefield damage
    • From: 20, 50, 200; To: 10, 25, 75 (for levels 1 to 3)
  • Note: the changes to Harpy changes previously mentioned haven’t been made yet (sensor range to be able to detect cloaked fleets and minefields)

On Thursday next week (September 24th) we're going to launch a new Awaken the Dark galaxy (the Awaken the Dark galaxy running now will continue but it'll only be possible to join the new one). In this post we'll look at some of the balancing changes we're going to make.

Here are the patch notes for the v122 update just released. This patch introduces two fantastic new features: Guard fleets and Steam achievements.

Fleets could only automatically guard a planet’s orbit before this patch. Enemy fleets outside orbit e.g. in a system or deep space, could only be attacked with a manual attack order (requiring you to be online). You can now order fleets to autonomously guard wider areas of space!

• Build a guard fleet control[wiki.outscape.net] on a colony to establish a guard zone around that star system (3LY radius)
  
• Order one or more of your fleets to guard that zone (fleet must be in the zone first)
  
• Enemy fleets entering a guard zone are automatically pursued and attacked by your fleets guarding that zone (excluding pirates)
  
• See the wiki guard fleet control[wiki.outscape.net] page for more details

• There are now 24 Steam achievements in Outscape[wiki.outscape.net] – with more to come!
  
• Achievements commemorate your progress through Outscape but don’t provide any in-game benefits
  
• You can view your achievement progress through your Steam profile or the Outscape page in your Steam library

• Minefield damage in the Awaken the Dark galaxy was nerfed: From 70, 300, 1200; to 20, 50, 200 (for levels 1 to 3)
  
• NPC guard fleets (and the new guard fleets) won’t automatically attack cloaked fleets they don’t have visibility of (in the next patch we plan to add a countdown to launch an invasion from orbit, similar to how bombing works)

• Sometimes when viewing another player’s colony the population size was incorrectly displayed as zero. Performing an action against the colony e.g. bombing it would then trigger the correct population size to be displayed. This was purely a display issue in the game client caused by an issue with caching.
