I am still thinking of buying this game.
Care to give me some tips?
It's hard when you only have two units to beat six or more units that have multi hit artillery. So you get one shot to hit one place on the board. What comes at you is artillery that hits 4 spots, a jet that hits 2, two others that hit 2 spots. I guess the point is to get you to play long enough to rack up points to buy more units to compete. Then there's ammunition that flashes a red circle when it hits if there is something next to it. Not sure exactly how it works but I experience no flashing circle but a unit right next to it. Anyway I just want to replace a time killer like solitare here in the studio when I get a minute or two to relax. After all this really isn't billed as a strategy game. (BTW there is no strategy)
Anyway much more irratating than fun, but for 2.99 it still might be worth a try. I'm not a typical gamer. Guess I should have explained first but I was just so so not happy.
TL;DR "Anyway much more irratating than fun, but for 2.99 it still might be worth a try."
Games, especially indie-ones, tend to be not-perfect.
As for me - I am not totally sure if I want to PLAY this game. If i'll end up buing it I will at least farm the cards from it.
Just as you said " for 2.99 it still might be worth a try."
like a sort of mini 'debriefing' , i dont mind the clicking, i only have problems with the screen scrolling from left to right and back again after each shot.... after 40 times my eyes are getting tired...
Imho best would be if the dev could use 2 screens next to another either horizontal or vertical so both will always be in sight , the scrolling back every time also 'dealys' the game , it kinda ' slows' the game cause the screen have to be scrolled in sight everytime, while if both screens would always be visible, the game could play faster.
i do :D
but battle shi[ps shows both sides at once the action will only displayed in 1 at a time, so the scrolling part can be changed to show the screens both at once on screen, even on 1024x768 this is perfectly possible, this will also speed up the game cause the scrolling back and forth takes times, and any second to much is a second wasted :D
Or if the dev would at elast include an optionb to show them both at the same time on the screen in a menu setting so we can choose that.
It's not mindless. When the shell lands, if there's adjacent enemies, they flash red in those squares. It's got a Minesweeper mechanic to it. Later as you unlock scanning, artillery, airstrikes etc, lots of options to turn the tide in your favor.
I enjoyed this game on my tablet a lot, it does Battleship + Minesweeper + some new mechanics. Nothing wrong with that for people who like that genre and it's dirt cheap on Steam!
thats what the small red circle is for :D , i already suspected something like that ...
the biggest bad is that scrolling left and back each and everytime, if only that could be removed, just show both of the sides at once onscreen, no scrolling the screens to show your base and then the enemies and so on, that causes eyestrain.
If the dev could at least offer it in a option in the menu to show the screens at once that would be a very good progress... other then then that i have no real remarks.
Battleships without multiplayer.... Fail.
