is this game still playable in 2023, can i host private matches for me and my friends to play together online?

yes its still playable, idk if you can do "private" matches aside from on custom maps, but you can always invite friends into the public lobbys (they are pretty often empty these days, can sometimes find other folks to ride with though)

You can make private matches on any of the stock mx or sx tracks, custom tracks, freeride levels, buggy or sport truck levels, etc. In the multiplayer screen scroll down to the private match button and from there you choose which tracks

its a real shame you cant race with bots in multiplayer anymore, you did that thru the ol console split screen

I honestly feel like this game still holds up to this date as far as game mechanics that it has.
