I'm not even surprised it got banned on Australia.
I mean, Hotline Miami 2 is still banned there as far as i know....a freaking pixel shooting game...

As a fellow Australian, I'd like to express condolences to my fellow countrymen who were unable to purchase the game before this announcement dropped. I made it a priority to get this game when it came out, but we all know how ridiculous prices can be on Steam. It sucks, man, it really sucks.

Just make keys activatable, no redemption or run restrictions, and sell keys via your own website. Let us import games.

You are not legally required to prevent access or activation to German customers. The only think you aren't allowed to do is sell it to minors, which would be Valve's responsibility. They've not done a thing to implement proper checks for the past ten years, and there are plenty of games on the store that'd require them.

They've not done a thing to implement proper checks, coz its impossible to implement proper checks. Its not like I protect gaben or something, just trying to explain

There've been various proposed things. Heck, if you sell enough ♥♥♥♥ on the market, you are literally required to fill out legal paperwork for US tax purposes! Other stores even just opt for selling adult games only at night, or require you to enter your ID number for the record.

There are various ways to implement something that'd be good enough for the task to appease the dusties. Valve have announced working on it nigh on ten years ago. Just how they announce everything just to never follow it up with anything, I guess.

wait, really? Sold lot of stuff so far, never seen such requirment (its still optional in account settings, but thats it - nobody force you to do so).

Still - I think, if valve will force you to enter data about your real identity on registration page - it will scare away tonns of potential customers
DarkChaplain 10 AGO 2017 a las 9:40 a. m.
Yes, yes it is a requirement after a certain amount per year. Questions about it pop up every so often. It is optional in so far as to if you don't want to do it, you don't get to sell anything til the following tax year. It has no real effect outside the US, or didn't used to when I had to go through the formalities of telling them I'm German.

I disagree that it'll scare away anyone, because it'd only be required for adult only games on a regional basis (e.g. Germany for games like Wolfenstein Uncut, Valkyrie Drive, you know). It is either that or not being sold these games at all.

The game isn't technically banned in Germany, it just has no rating. There are thousands of games being sold on Steam in Germany that were never rated by the USK, which just makes them technically 18+. There are now actual hentai games I can buy on Steam, too.

Can you elaborate on the legal basis for the removal of the game in Germany? You can even buy the imported Vita version on amazon Germany with no problems, it's not illegal.

No Hentai-Games on Steam...since they don't have that content in their "as sold"-state... *facepalm*

There are games on Steam with much more explicit content than VD, even pre-patch.
