Is survivor swapping theft?
Do you think porting a skin from one survivor to another (survivor swapping) with just credits on the description is theft? (I'm leaving Steam for a while and while I'm gone, I'd like to come back here and see each other's opinions)

as i said in your other post then i see no problem with it as long as the dev themselves dont disapprove of it

just link the original and i dont think it would be an issue. Never hurts to ask the original poster however.

It depends. If the author grants you permission to port it again with another survivor and credit the user, you will be fine but, If you steal an add-on without the author's permission and taking 0 credits from it is stealing because you are copying and pasting the same thing with another survivor and they might gonna file you a DMCA Complaint if you don't remove it but, those are in rare cases though

always give the credit and say in the description

As long as you give credits & there's no DMCA coming, I think it means that the authors probably don't mind (or haven't noticed yet). As long as the authors don't come & talk to you directly via comments or profile, you can ignore those who accused you as thief.

There are times when survivor swapping or model swapping actually can be helpful, as there are some authors that don't do such swapping requests because it takes time, or because of other reasons. When there are modders who are willing to do the swapping requests, that can become very helpful to people who really need the models to be ported to other survivors.

But again, it goes back to each author. As long as they don't take actions, probably you're fine.

Just ask first, but it's not like the models are always made by the original poster. Most of them are just ports, tho I think you should still ask. Sometimes a Porter may complain about a port of there port, and personally I think this is hypocritical. Non the less, ask for permission and link the OP. Honestly it can be pretty easy to find these ports else where if not just port them yourself.

In my opinion, swapping survivors isn't "stealing" the mod. Aslong credit are given to the original modder that ported it in L4D2 (or any other games).

I know that there is modders that complain about it because they wants the money that comes from it but to be honest, they shouldn't complain. Most of the times, the models they are porting aren't made by them. I mean, they aren't the person who fully created it. They only took it from a game (or others website where peoples create their own characters) and port them here without asking permission for it at first.

I'm not against this (importing a model for a few amount of money) in a way because it's not easy and it takes times so i do understand they want compensation from it but, yeah. Some of them are just, super dogsht when it comes about this (no offence).
