Need help with an voice mod
I've been trying to make a voice mod for the tank, to have a custom voice for about 10 hours now, everything i have tried isn't working, it's just the default tank noises, any help would be appreciated, Ty <3

This might help https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/L4D2_Custom_Sound_and_Music_Tutorial

Make sure its the right path/location, the right audio format... etc
Thanks for the suggestion and help, but unfortunately it didn't work.
Of course, I still greatly appreciate the help <3
So far the only thing that i can explain, is when i activate the addon, the sounds don't work, but the Tanks voice is pitched down ?
Like it sounds odd, idk why

Oh.
I think i'm being a dumb dumb.
The sound is working, it's just slow.
so that'd be because the audio's don't match with the original
But I have just looked, and there the same Hz, Length, Mono, both 16 Bit, Unless there meant to be 32 bit ?
idk anymore, i probably won't bother

What happens if you have the mod activated and then type into the games console "snd_rebuildaudiocache" does that solve anything?

I have done a Tank Voice Mod once... I'm viewing one of the old audio files from my mod its Mono, 44100Hz, 32 Bit. Ive noticed that my mod has sound squeeking or whatever its called.
I havent cut it to the original/default length tho bcs I'm too lazy and I usually replace voices on my own instead of just subscribing to mods.

I'll be sure to give both of these a try, thank you <3

Right.. it kinda worked ?
The audio isn't slow anymore, but instead it's just static..
Honestly bro, I'm sorry for bothering you so much
It's annoying me just as much trust, specially after 17 hours of trying to get such a simple thing to work
I swear I've literally encountered every problem possible XD
And yeah, the audio is the same length. So I literally have no idea what the problem is now

F... Well now we have the same problem. :D You are not alone anymore!!! Yeyyyy...

I will try to look into it maybe I can find anything, I bet its just a small issue which is causing it which might even be totally obvious but we just dont get it at all lol

I will let you know if I figure something out or maybe someone will help us.
For now try to get your mind on something else than this mod dont drive yourself mad with it :D

Yeah I'll try looking as well
I've tried decreasing the volume of the audio yesterday but that didn't work XD
We'll figure it out someday, even if it take years XD

Okay, I edited my Tank Voice Mod... I think the Squeeking Sounds are gone now.
After editing everything and running the .vpk file I used snd_rebuildaudiocache again, just in case before running a campaign to test the tank.

First I made the custom Audio Files fit the default Audio Files lengths with Audacity, did you use Audacity for it as well?

I'm reading out my Audio File Metadata online with this Website: https://products.groupdocs.app/metadata/total

*Then I changed my custom Audio Files Formats to:
AudioFormat: 1
Bit Depth: 16
BlockAlign: 2
ByteRate: 88200
NumOfChannels: 1 (Mono)
SampleRate: 44100

(IDK what this is but) RiffInfoPackage
ISFT: Lavf59.27.100

---

*Changed my Audio Files online with: https://online-audio-converter.com

I hope it lets me post those Links. :')

Sound squeeking or SCREECHING whatever its called happens when the audio length doesnt fit the original audio length... Maybe the problem is that you didnt cut the audio to the millisecond of the original file.
In the normal Windows properties of an audio file there are only the hours and the seconds, but not the milliseconds. I was able to see the milliseconds with Audacity.

Thank you, that is really helpful to know, I'll be sure to test it now and see if it works
Edit: Yeah I used Audacity
