Get it on sale for 5-6 bucks and blast through it in a week. Expect nothing more.

The dialogue is tedious, the tutorialization is annoying, the design of the game world is also pretty bland.

But when Rage 2 hits it HITS. you can pilot a mech and grab pretty much any old car you see, the gunplay is excellent too. I really like that there are individual indicators for hit, armor, and kills. The vehicle's are pretty fun to play with, albeit the starting car feels pretty uninspired and cheap like giving the Mako from mass effect a machine gun with limited ammo.

Why does the starting car's machinegun have ammo requirements when the mech has infinite ammo? Is this Just Cause 4?

The mechanics and ideas Rage 1 established feel underwhelming as they are here. The collectible setup is reminiscent of Just Cause 2 (incredibly lackluster, but it strangely appeals to me).

One of the reasons why I picked up Rage 2 after having it in my Library so long is because I saw it described somewhere as: "Doom, but open world". And, man is that apt. The gunplay feels straight out of doom, the main character's arms after you get the ranger armor look just like Doomguy's armor.

The menuing is awkward. Requiring you to hold down buttons to unlock upgrades, press buttons to go into menus that should ideally already be at the forefront.

The plot holds your hand like a vice grip, locking you in spaces as they spout some exposition your way.

Still... overall I kinda like what's here, I like the world design more than Rage 1, which felt kinda stilted. I like that I'm not shoehorned into completing plot points just to see different areas.

It's like if Doomguy was placed into the world of mad max. But it would've been a lot more fun to play as Doomguy in this setting cause man do these characters yap. Overall, not really much 'rage' here.

Rage? more like "I'm a bit upset so I guess I'll mass murder people who are mean to me" *shrugs*

This game is dumb fun. Though it may not be everyone's cup of tea. If you get it, try to overlook the sins of the introduction. The plot of the Rage games are certainly not their strength.

This game is beyond fun. Its absurd, hilarious, doesn't take itself too seriously, and a technical masterpiece. The graphics are really incredible. The open world is huge but feels densely packed like a hand-crafted FPS. I can't stress enough, give this game a chance. This game was panned by the likes of Kotaku and IGN when it first released, and you can guess why. I can't believe I missed this game because I listed to gaming 'journalists' when it first released.
