Ok, thanks for the update man.

You do realise this game sold for ~$100 (9,800 yen retail) in Japan when it came out, right? And truth be told, if you lived in Japan and were a Da Capo fan when it first came out, you probably also bought the original version of it (not the R or X-Rated version, which came out later), so you probably spent at least $200 on games with Da Capo 3 in the title. Considering that you're asking for a 75% discount because of the lower graphics, you're actually getting it for 80% off what the Japanese buyer would have probably spent by the time he bought R.

Also worth pointing out: the game released in Japan with 1024x576 graphics (it's on the box). Any problems you have with the graphics should go to Circus, not the company making it available to countries outside Japan. MangaGamer probably can't make the graphics better unless Circus re-releases the game with HD graphics (which, knowing their track record, will probably be in a few months). Boycotting the English release won't get you better graphics; it'll prevent more games from making their way across the ocean.

Yeah, you gotta keep in mind that VNs aren't really like 3D games where they can arbitrarily render it in whatever resolution they want. Since pretty much everything is based on static 2D assets, the developers pretty much have to pick a resolution and stick with it (with the game potentially up/downscaling the 2D art to fit the screen if necessary) and Japanese developers are sort of reluctant to release in really high resolutions since high end PCs are not all that common there, people might want to play on a lower end laptop and run into issues because your game expects 1080p screen etc. There are a few exceptions, especially in the last couple of years, but this game was released in 2012 so its resolution was pretty typical for the time.

As far as the Nvidia tweak, if it works with the demo I don't see why it wouldn't work for the Steam one, so it should probably be fine. Same engine and all.

I hate people like that. It is why mangagamer and sekai go around and keep saying we can't sell good games because they have to have high resolutions.

There are amazing games out there in 640x480 resolution, and you are part of the problem why we never get to play them.

as he or she has said. i cant stand ppl that dont buy games over reasons liek this or over FPS "if i cant get 80-120fps i wont buy this" on a 10year odl game made to do 30 or 60fps at its highest.....

yeah i refuse to support this game myself for other reasons but >.> those resolutions arnt that bad and quality of image and story is very well done. that much i will give thsi game the anime and manga was good and the game itself story wise and content is quet ncie and the isnaine length fo the game in general is great. but i refuse to support companies that lock full content (some will say this is full content but in the gamming world after a updated version comes out and more content comes out that then becomes the full game)

so the fact they double charge to gain full content and still gain steam benifits is my reasons

640x480 is unplayable on 4K screen it so Blr to point where you see the game. See why high resolutions is must.

Checked more games, and the majority of them are 1280 or less (千恋*万花 is 1920, if you can read Japanese, along with Sister Scheme). If your complaint is that you can't watch your cartoon smex on your baller 4K TV, I would like to tell you there are better uses for a 4K than an adult cartoon game. And if you're willing to give up on the franchise simply because the American company - which had nothing to do with the production or the artwork of the game - can't wave a magic wand and grant you better graphics, then good day to you, sir. You will not be missed by us or the company, I presume. Enjoy mentioning your 4K TV to some other strangers on the internet and upholding your high tastes in 2D erotica somwhere else.

The only thing you're doing at this point is complaining about an industry standard to a group of people who cannot fix it, and honesty all of our time could be spent more productively if you just called CIRCUS and demand their next game have good enough graphics to display on your TV.

I remember buying Rewrite from the local store when it first came out and trying to run it stably on the then 10 year old desktop was nigh impossible.

Pretty much. One of the reasons visual novels became popular was because they didn't need high-spec computers, and a lot of the developers are small companies who don't have those resources. Owing to that, they needed to emphasis other aspects, like storytelling, art, and character interaction to sell their products.
SuperStarAD 2017 年 1 月 23 日 上午 11:07
I don't care about the resolution. But $40 for any visual novel is an insane price. When it gets a 75% discount to make it $10, then it may be an okay value.
