This game is just hours of crawling through a jungle very slowly and occasionally pressing the space-bar to dodge enemies

Boring

I've never just immediately known a game was terrible so quickly before in my life.

After my 20 mins or so in it its so bad I cant even play any more its just awful. You're zoomed in so far the camera view and angle is just atrocious. It makes no sense even with full tutorial it still makes no sense. The controls are so bad as well you can barely lumber around like a hulking beast in a sludge. I have no idea why anyone would play this and enjoy it.

I have to recommend this game for the fun aspect and the creativity of the idea, but its so cryptic. like painfully cryptic. Like, Castlevania 2: Simons Quest type shi. maybe you can actually GUESS what to do, but without help it would take you HOURS to figure it all out. maybe im just stupid idk. Its a little annoying having to look up what to do next.

I understand the game has a little bit of a manual telling you how to play, but its only helpful for the first few minutes of the game.

I also don't like how unforgiving the game is. I didn't understand that you are responsible for the entire monkey clan and have to transfer into each monkey and eat and drink, or else they will die. I totally thought that most of the survival mechanics for the clan was automatic.

I wish combat was somehow worked earlier into the game. I also understand why that is, considering you have to evolve and whatnot and learn how to create weapons and learn to use motor skills to fight, but damn is this game drawn out.

The game doesnt look bad for how old it is, however, I think at this point, its not worth $40. maybe its worth $20. This game hardly ever goes on sale, so waiting will take a while.

The most conflicted I have every felt with a game in years. The concept is entirely unique and cannot be found anywhere else. However you will find yourself frustrated and lost the entire time. Which is reminiscent of the human experience. I play video games to get away from that, and as such I found it to be a laboring experience.

Just understand that the game teaches you nothing, explains less, and you're all but expected to have a separate window open to explain the mechanics to you.

difficult to get into, that's for sure - and some of the controls can be a little finnicky that makes it harder to get into this game
the tutorial isn't super great, you're kind of given a very bare bones run down and are essentially let loose to find out how to play on your own
i did restart after a while, which helped a lot! it's one of those games where your first playthrough likely won't stay and you'll end up making another one
after that, though, this game becomes highly enjoyable! it's tough, but not super unfair - at least in my opinion
you'll get injured, you'll get sick, you'll break bones, you'll die, but it's part of the experience
exploring in the tree tops is, so far, the absolute highlight of this game for me. it takes some practice, but man does it feel incredible! the map is very large and there's plenty of lookout areas to discover and items to find. i spent many hours just swinging in the trees and exploring my surroundings
i did have to look up a lot of things, as the game didn't explain them for me, but i tried to do this pretty sparringly as finding things out for yourself is kind of the main theme of this game
i haven't gotten super super far, as i'm taking my time with it and i gotta get back to playing it, but i do really recommend this game! it's got a bumpy start but eventually you'll find your rhythm and are given a massive world to explore and survive in

Really cool game. It is one of those harder games in my opinion but i enjoyed playing it.

This is a very sick game, it requires time to learn the ropes at the beginning but overall I think its super fun. If this game had multiplayer with 2-3 friends, this could make this game crazy.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey - A game that I just couldn’t get into at all for the first 5 hours or so - but I stuck with it, luckily.

At the start, I was super frustrated, because this game really explains almost nothing, and even after watching a few short tutorials, I still didn’t fully understand all the mechanics and made a lot of mistakes.
BUT once I eventually started to understand it more and more, I actually had a lot of fun with the game at times.
The gameplay loop is very unique - nothing I’ve really seen in any other game… as I said, I had to warm up to it first, but then it was nice!
At least until hour 30 or so… then the gameplay loop did become very, very repetitive.

And another thing that bothered me (but in a way also inspired me):
I kept pushing forward with my clan, piece by piece - through the jungle, the savanna, the desert - and finally we reached the ocean AND…
And there’s basically nothing interesting to find at the ocean… it feels like it was never really about the destination, but that it was always about the journey/the process itself… wow… if that’s not a metaphor for life, I don’t know what is.
As I said - inspiring, right?

Even though I would recommend it, I totally understand if many people who try this game quickly drop it and never get the appeal… almost happened to me too.
