I have them all on Ps2, but i'd buy em again in a heartbeat on Steam, even if they were just ports.
But yeah remasters would be ideal, specially if they fleshed out the zones and dungeons more to make them less repetitive.
I just don't like its locked behind Bandai's approval they own the rights even though CyberConnect2 made the game. I could go on and state my opinions on things I think but no one wants to go and see me rattle on about those.
They could make a pretty stellar 'fake mmo' by expanding the gates with more keywords and more tilsets and letting you do multiplayer.
Hell they could also make a real social MMO the same way. You dont need constant quests and voice overs when youre making 2~3 new tilesets every year and a new hub town with a different thematic.
I found out about it years after it had been shut down though, could have been a fun one had it been globally released.
I know, I have heard of it but never played it. Though my point is a bitter different in a MMO Idea. Think of what was possible then and what could be done now. Honestly if Bandai is not going to let CyberConnect2 do anything related to .Hack I could think of a few different anime or animes or from some other games take ideas and inspiration for a MMO. Thats my opinion you could have the single player world could be different then everyone elses then you have the mutli player world where a friend joins your world or you join theres. Then you have the MMO world. Is a interesting idea certain challenges or events or what not are different in each mode.
MMO or to just single player dont get me talking to much i could come up with tons of interesting ideas for games.
Sorry for rattling on.
Both being recruited to help other players in their game and also getting Invaded by PK players which are a big part of the universe lore.
You could even do Guilds or something with other players.
Would also open up the game for a character creator, so instead of being stuck with a main character we could choose our character and class.
Maybe I wanna play a Wavemaster for a change :)
They really could do something great with a game like that themed around .Hack.
In all honesty the fighting system from the anime Shangrla Frontier back grounds unique scenarios you can trigger and could be different for everyone or no clue what triggers it you level and distribute points. Theres that or could make something where its generational sooner or later your character will retire and you kinda make your own legacy when the character retires their offspring pick up where they left off you could say could have the offspring with another player of the other gender or can be with a NPC kicker is lets say you specialized as being a brute warrior looking character and the off spring other parent did a rogue per say you kinda have genetic gamble like you could end up being a light wait warrior that knows how to pick locks or something. Your character takes its not 100% but you can end up with different traits from your family tree..
Honestly though where i was saying with .hack the different ways to play maybe theres special events you can only do solo at times ones with friends and then mmo ones where you could get unique items as one thing to keep the game going. Or some materials you can only get in single player multiplayer and mmo play. No means would i want a mmo sort of game to be easy I would want you to have to work put in effort and time to get things. all Honesty you will be happy when your work pays off for stuff then you want it to actually be seen recognized too. You want a good story lore to so theres the potential to expand upon it.
The different options I have stated I dont think are bad. Though wanting to stick with a .hack game even though so much potential with different ideas. stick with .hack they could have the Almit system and its features as a launcher to the game which would be cool. The Idea of gates and putting in words is kinda cool too.
Sorry got carried away there. You can say I have a passion for gaming.
My point is I just think CyberConnect2 should do something.
Closest I ever got to an MMO that felt like .hack was the early days of the original PSO2 (not NGS) and FF11. FF11 feels like what The World R1 would feel like in-universe.
P.s.: Hopefully they fix Elk <-- Worst healer ever!
Yea elk wasnt one of my favorite characters either.
Same With Piros I just dont like the fact he is a danm idiot often useless too.
Also seemed to me like a Kite someone whho had good heals and a heavy blade were always the best party members to go with.
Honestly im still working through the game again on a Emulator back when I had it on the PS2 I had just gotten the twins blade weapon from MoonStone I believe that was their name also Balmung and Wiseman Joined my party. Though sadly there was someone I thought was my friend but turned out to betray me the piece of sh*t and ruined my safe file and deleted my saves to the past games as well. It can be a pain gathering all the different kinds of grunty foods till maxxed out on them and collecting the well water pure water and everything used for trading.
