Epic Battle Fantasy 3
Akron Prep for Epic Medal?
I wanted to do an epic run of the game and finally grab that Epic Medal that has eluded my grasp for many years. Mostly due to the fact that I never really decided to put effort in punishing myself to get to Akron because I really despise going up against the Dragon (Whom I strangely find more cheap and more difficult than Akron himself.

I wanted some advice,

What is the gap between Hard and Epic when it comes to the 30% difference in damage?

Do you (or did you) do a easy/normal run to unlock at least 40 medals for gear purposes? (This is already been done in my recent hard run).

What was your optimal gear set up?

If it helps anyone any, for my Hard Mode run, I ran dark resistance to dang near negate 2 of his rather nasty attacks in exchange, I had to deal with death and Doom attacks.

Any insight would be great, and I will be greatful.

Thanks in advance.

I believe its easier to do Akron on Epic, if you do it right. TL;DR at the end if you can't be bothered to read this wall of awesome text. I will cry though, because i took the time to actually write this for you.

The way i do it is making Mat the main damage dealer, Lance as a Terra Drill bot, and Nat as support and healer. The goal is starting Akron at an earth weakened element and spam Terra Drill on him until you need to dispel him, along with keeping the other enemies alive. Wouldn't want the clay soldiers to come out would ya?

Equipment wise i go Ninja gear on Mat and Nat, and Officer on Lance, since they give dark resist, and ninja got evation.

Weapons i switch sword depending on what element he is weak against, but start with the earth axe since it boosts Cataclysm, one of the strongest abilities Mat has, and the Gods Hand. Staff is up to debate, but i use Dark Tooth for awesome damage :P

Uber Strat? Use Evation to get godlike dodge and spam Cataclysm if vunerable to earth, otherwise Legend, and keep the Regen spell up at all times. Use the Defence tactic when he charges up the big dark damage blast. Use Terra Drill when he has defences up, since it will always do more damage than Cataclysm without defences when he's vunerable to earth. Try to weaken him with stat decreasing abilities for more damage. I recommend using the Kyun Ultimate since it Buffs you and Debuffs the enemy and dispels them, and it can cleanse you. Ion Cannon cant go wrong and Cleave is best for Akron with a weapon he is weak against.

If you are strong as hell then you should down him in 10 minutes or less, but it depends on if he switches elements alot or not. Just switch sword accordingly and remember to use Terra Drill when you got the chance.

Special Prep strats: Pizza, lots of Pizza since it will save you alot, and Hamburger if you can.

Awesome min/max building strat!
Use evation food on everyone and try to make it as equal as possible.
Use Defence on Mat and Lance.
Use Magic Defense on Nat Lance.
Use Magic attack on Nat and Lance.
Attack on Mat and Lance.

The goal is keeping a 50/50 on Lance so that he is effective in all his abilities, since he's a hybrid. also i like to make Lance able to "suvive" everything the game can throw at him.
Mat is pure Attack based (except the Heavy Metal skill... but it would be broken otherwise and you can choose to learn it on Lance instead if you want) and Mat is pure Magic based.
Accuracy is all on Lance, wouldn't want the gunner to turn into a stormtrooper do ya?
And lets not forget the holy grail of all stat increases... Mp and Hp.
These are the recommendations i give to you, since it will make this alot easier, but you can go lower if you dont have enough of them.

Hp priority: Mat at preferably 14000 hp, Lance at 12000 and Nat at 10000.
Mp priority: Nobrainer here. Nat at around 900, Lance at 700 and Mat can go with a measly 500 and still be effective.

TL;DR: Ninja Gear on Mat and Nat, Officer on Lance.
Sword switch depending on element, Gods hand and Dark Tooth.

Spam Terra Drill as Lance, Spam Evation and use Cataclysm or Legend depending on element, and keep Regen up at all times.

Use Cleave if available and Ion Cannon if available, Kyun is good for Buffing and Debuffing.

Items should be Pizza and Hamburgers.

Keep enemies alive (except Akron for obvious reasons) to keep those clay soldiers away.

Killing Blow in the end :P

Ask any questions if you need help! I'll check in to see if it helps any. Good luck!

Edit: Changed the Mp values to more realistic numbers, my bad XD

To get to Akron is abit hard, but there are effective strategies for that. Since you seem to have problems with dragon i can tell you the priorities too.

Dark Head first, then Fire. Holy will go down fast enough if you take that last. Strategy is using effective spells and Swords for the priority target and use Holy and Dark resistant gear to start with. Thats kinda all to it, and to be lucky. They dont have terrible health, but it's not that high either. you should be able to burst them down before they do anything troublesome if you go prepare for Akron on the way.

Ran through this on Epic difficulty without any prior playthroughs on this version (I had played this game on kongregate a couple times beforehand like 4 years ago or something) just to get every medal out of the way in a single run. The 20% damage difference is pretty noticeable throughout the run (reg. enemies can actually wreck you, especially later if you aren't careful). The dragon fight is kind of a pain due to the dragon head healing the others is rather high (and the other heads do considerably high damage, especially their regular physical). Personally I'd recommend killing off the Holy dragon head first since it's healing slows down the fight overall, then kill fire since dark resistance is easier to equip on all your members (to get 100% of it that is).

That's another way to do it... I just find the heal from holy dragon to be so weak that I don't notice it at all... just dispel regen and problem solved. Also... I told him to go for dark head first then fire to prepare him for Akron afterwards, since the strategy I gave him focus on the heavy damage dealers first. Evasion and dodge is also part of what made EBF3 easy, especially since ninja gear have dark resist on top of that. Oh and Seiken/Judgement combo kills dark dragon so fast holy can't keep up, another reason for me ignoring holy dragon.

you can walk around them actaully
Didn't know that, Nice to know XD
Wait, you can walk around them? Since when?

Since the game launched back on kongregate? you can't really tell by seeing but yes I've done it multipe times.
Do you mean the dragon boss?
No way..
Just defeated Akron on Epic..
Thanks Zokatar for equipment tips:steamhappy:
Only played through the easy mode before moving straight to Epic..
Lot´s of K.O.´s..And Akron did not give the chance of Earth weakness often..
Still the Drill skill did only small damage since I really did not want him to buff his attack..
I don´t know hoe did you get MP to 9000 at first round?Barely close to 900 MP and others somewhere close if last number is removed from your MP build..
It´s level 30 cap after all..
Had some issues with monolith at my way to end..But Three headed Dragon Boss was insanely difficult..Perhaps the games enemy skill dispel is more than annoying sometimes..
On the third try I defeated those heads..I setted the speed maximum for fun and some lucky reason I won..Before that I fought almost two hours and dird..Seems like some Resistances are still somewhat weaknesses...
Akron went on the first try..A long one..
The most difficult thing in this game is the Card Minigame..
Never been good at those member the card games..
tried on WIN 10´s paint..Side by side..Still takes too much time..
Digital camera..Same..Too many same colored pictures I quess..
That´s the only medal missing..
But the info from this topic was more than helpful..Thanks again..
Now New Game+ without the level cap..Nice..
You know... Now im not sure anymore XD. I swear i remember getting 9k mp on my nat, but it could have been 900 instead considering ability costs and stuff.

The health im pretty sure about though... Considering i survived 9k hits without problems.

Also nice to know someone appreciated my equipment choices. It's my go to choices for any encounter really.

PS. Sorry for late reply, since my steam account was locked and i couldnt log in due to authenticator problems.

Even getting 9k mp isn't all that easy in the next game, which uses scaling stats > fixed stat gains from items (you get like 10 mp per item in this game). You would have to redo the game over and over again (I think there is like 45-50 or so MP items in this game total including the final secret area? so that would be +450-500 mp each runthrough) to even get there. 900 mp though isn't all that hard (you can probably end the first playthrough on around 500 mp on natz or more so the second one should do it)

Thanks, I just beat the game on epic difficulty. Sucks that I had Terra Drill on Matt so Lance was kinda useless. lol Anyways, if I had Terra Drill on Lance I could have done it so much faster. And also Ion Cannon killed most enemies so I had that dark obelisk thing enemy and also dark clay... Anyways, I did it so thanks.

And last but no least I had around that much hp but my mp was way less than your suggested numbers. Nat had around 850, I think and the rest at 500-600-ish.
Finally edited the numbers to realistic values, while beating myself for not doing it sooner XD

Anyways, everything else is correct and i hope it helps future players beat Akron on Epic.

I had Terra Drill on Matt, but Guardian on Lance, so Lance was the main buffer :D

The dragon boss is actually not so hard if you know how to deal with it.
First of all poison the healing head (Czars) to maximum. Make sure you are not using Lance's Poison Gas as it will poison Abyss even more and it will self heal even more. You can also use Matt's Fright, Natalie's Pulse, and Lance's Darkblast on it. They are quite effective.
Also do not forget to dispel all the buffs.
When it's dead the main idea is not to left one head alive as it summons some naughty boys for help. I've been using Lance's Unload and Matt's' Legend to finish the ones left but perhaps you will find something more effective.
By the way you don't need to bust MP for Matt if you use Rune Blade.
