Climbey is one of those games you either love or just can't get into.
I'd say give it a go and use the refund system if it doesn't sit well with you.

On another note, if you hold back on buying snacks or other one-time consumption items you'll save the same amount easily. I still use that mentality to justify investing in stuff I'm unsure of even though I make plenty of money now :)
