Boot Fail - "BH2.EWS" Stopped Working ...
Tried to launch the game on a Windows 10 system. Immediately got a pop-up message saying "BH2.EWS" had stopped working. Icons on the screen went super-sized, like the computer had gone into a safe mode of some kind. Speakers started howling. If i tried to exit, the game would go directly into play, with no options or menus or instructions on play. If i tried to exit from that point, it sent me back to the BH2.EWS message.

Message would not cancel ("X" or "Cancel") and Task Manager could not successfully pull-up, so the only way "out" was a hard reboot.

Went into Steam and verified the file integrity.

Advise.

Yeah I'm having the same problem. It seems they didn't update the game at all to actually run on modern computers. I can't find any way to fix it either.

I'm guessing there is no way to fix it other than installing Windows 98.

So, two days and no remarks from Development to address corrective measures?

Have to ditch & pass.

Works in Win 10 on first try
Not sure how everyone else was trying to make it work, but here's howw I did it:
-Install the game
-In the Steam Library, RIGHT-click on the title
-In the pop-up menu, click "properties"
-In the properties Dialog, select the "Local Files"
-Click the button tat reads "Browse Local Files"
-This brings up Windows Explorer pointing to where the game is installed
-Find the BH2002.exe file
-Right-click that file
-In the pop-up menu, select "Send To"
-That menu opens up ANOTHER pop-up menu
-Select "Desktop (Create Shortcut)"
-Minimize everytihng so you can see the new shortcut on your desktop
-Right-click that new shortcut, select "Properties"
-In that dialog box, select the "Compatibility" tab
-In the section that reads "Compatibility Mode," check the box reading "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
-This enables the drop-down list immediately below it
-Select "Windows 98 / Me
-That's it! Click OK

Now try double-clicking the new shortcut. Mine worked on the first try.

It's possible that you need to run as Administrator, since I am an admin on my machine.
