edit: The whole docking station is buggy. No trader no Cargoship nothing -.-
The rest of my ships were docking fine until the asteroids ran out in my home system. But the cargo ships at the mining station wouldn't deliver those resources to my main base. This caused the mining station to accrue over 10k of each resource. It caused me to lose a game that I put over an hour of push and pull into against 3 AI.
I recommend you only build 2 extra mining ships at the start at your Docking Bay, then when building Outpost you let them build their ships (which are 4 mining ships & 1 cargo ship) and you let it be. In some occasions I build an extra cargo ship (at the outpost so it gets designated to that outpost) in case I think the travelling distance back to my Station is quite far so raw ironite is stacking up to much.
That works quite wonders for me. I beat a Brutal AI, I also tested it vs a human CEO in Multiplayer, having up to almost 80,000 ironite at one point due to having about 4 mining outposts.
Let say you are running out of resources and the ships starts bugging, destroy some of them. In the game manual it says the outpost should only build 2 mining ships, why it builds 4 I have no idea. But don't exceed 4 and you should be good. Remember when you destroy the mining ships the game will automatically build them so you have to cancel them until you have 4 per outpost.
Keep in mind tho you can't cancel a ship that's currently being built.
If you was playing online i wonder if there was a spy player who used an ability to turn the building off remote?
I don't see it happen when I only had 3. I haven't tried more.
