Bought this in 2012 when it was first release , did not like it back then , play few games and then put a side Recently met some friends who play the Boardgames version and was I impress how easy , fast pace the game system. Is Gameplay similar to a Miniatures Game

I am playing a lot of Campaign Series Middle East (from Matrix Site purchase) at present and really enjoy the 2d Boargame/ Miniatures feel it gives me when I play. The turns although slow if you have a lot of units play quickly for individual units and I get a real miniature vibe when I play (as in pick up a tank,move it ,fire at an enemy and then do the same again). (MAIN QUESTION) (1) Does this game feel similar ? (Secondary QUESTION) (2 )I like modding games and have downloaded a big mod for this ...
