I have checked the hard drive and there is 4.7 TB free, so I don't think storage capacity is a problem.
According to chkdsk there are no errors on the drive and all write permissions are set correctly.
I have over 335 games installed including your Strategy & Tactics :Wargame Collection (which did install ok).
Any help would be appreciated before I ask Steam for a refund.

Please give me info about your PC's specs (or generate a msinfo32 file)
Also knowing what exactly happens when you press "Play" would be good.
When i touch "play", a window appears with the logo of the developers, and suddenly the window close and nothing more happend.

The first youtube fix will not work as the Dark Ages has not created a directory under /Steamapps/Common, it is however in /Steamapps/Downloading.
I'm trying the last youtube video now.
BTW the Pc specs':- Win10 Home Anniversary, i7 6700K, GTX 980Ti, 16GB Ram.

Why in the world should the customer have to do these extra things to get the game to run or install. Thats the devs work!
Wow, these paying customers have to wait a long time for it to be fixed. A week, before they can play the game they paid for? Oh well, there is always the refund option. I do want this game to work, but I have been to many times burned by early access games.
Nope. That one is the Steam error that could happen with every other game.
But we always ready to help our friends with any kind of problem.
We do our best to make our game work on all the devices. Don't forget that even a simple fix should be checked hard.

We've released a patch that should fix initial crash and plenty of other problems.
Please give us feedback on it, also if there will be more crashes, we'll need your doutput.txt and derror.txt files at support@herocraft.com. Don't forget to specify the problem.
