Ive played foxhole for a small age, and i write this after a break and thinking about my time on foxhole. For prefrence Foxhole was this game where you could spend 4 hours after you got home playing it, and in that time you could get anything. In 30mins you could get the exact weapons you wanted. in 3 hours you could get the best tank in the game. Then after you left the game someone else could use what you built.

However. as the game went on, those hours increased for the things youd want to get, as well as the amount of hoarding that became available. The later part is a grey area due to clans. though the effect of this is undeniable. Foxhole went from a game you could spend an evening of playing and play casually with a huge amount of fun, and a felt effect on the war effort. To a game that is like a needy girlfriend, feels like a job, and you'll have to be un-employed to get the end-game vehicles you want, as well as likely working with a clan.

This game is no longer a casual game that you can enjoy. Its a game you have to work for to get enjoyment, and most of the time it makes your blood boil, or just makes you depressed. if you enjoy league of legends, Warthunder, WOW or anything like that then you'll enjoy this. But if you just want to enjoy a game after work, this isnt that. There was a time it was, but its not that anymore.

I will be fair. This was written after playing the game for 10 hours with a bit of combat and a bit of production experience.

Each battle encompasses one large, indefinitely persistent battle map.
There are two armies to choose from: Colonials and Wardens. They are at war and thus, the one you choose is the one you will be with for that entire battle, which can go on for weeks or more.

Pro: Look & Feel: Foxhole in-game is beautiful, the textures and overall 'muddiness' of the landscape and structures really give the feeling of WWI-WWII era and dismal combat environment, even in non-combat areas where non-grunts are working round the clock to maintain logistics, create supply-line infrastructure and keep the supplies flowing to the front line. The sounds are equally impressive. Night time is really cool with players building stuff at makeshift industrial centers, loading and unloading trucks of material and assets.

Pro for social players: There are clans you can join. Clans are efficient and get things done cohesively and efficiently. it can be lots of fun to work with clan mates.

Con for solo players: There are clans. Clans, because they work together, will eat up and dominate resources early in a battle and absolutely fill in any worthwhile area for a solo player to usefully build facilities on. On top of that, clans sometimes hoard supplies and materials.

Pro for solo players: There are enough clan players who seem to care about winning each war that they will supply free material for you to hop on and start fighting the enemy. Players, overall, seem to want to help each other in-game, especially if you simply ask.

Pro: Smooth and dynamic. Actions are clean, running, crouching, crawling, entering vehicles, etc. Quite a wide array of options from items and equipment, buildings, vehicles...not just weapons. Running and exhaustion are incorporated and functional and yes, encumbrance breeds fatigue! ...so there is a bit of real feel to getting around. Paved roads give advantage to movement, unlike many other games which render road use useless. You can run or drive off-road just fine, but you will consume more fuel and tire more quickly running if you do.

Con: Convoluted: Notice, I didn't say "complicated". If you get this game to play something on and off or for short spurts after work or school, you are in for a rude awakening and hours of "okay, I finally got this, but I still can't...". The learning curve is very steep, partly because of how wide and array of options you have to pursue and the complex hierarchy of material and component building.

Con: The war map is broken up into areas or zones. Each zone encompasses a large piece of land between which you have to "zone-in". and although transitions are rather quick (5-8 seconds or so on a decent PC), zones fill up, especially when most players want to fight on front line as opposed to 'build stuff'. And if you are running from a behind-friendly-lines zone and try to zone in to a front line combat zone, you are put into a waiting queue, standing there on a road....doing NOTHING, watching the phrase, "1 player ahead of you in queue" for sometimes God-awful times.

Con: The key binding option screen is quite elementary with all possible functions dumped into one single menu haphazardly. Key binding conflicts are not made known to you unless you scroll around looking for replicated key binds! Yeah, PITA. Sometimes, you will bind a key to local chat and it simply....will....not...open....local....voice...chat, even if you remembered to un-toggle the chat mute function....it still will not let you talk in-game sometimes for some unknown reason.

Pro: Shooting in combat with single fire weapons is pretty cool and requires skill development. Also, the long-range aiming across the field with the RMB is very fluid!

Con: Spray-and pray weapons are EVERYWHERE, negating much player skill from noob to veteran.

Con: engagements typically do not cover vast areas and because there is immediate for of war just off your screen, it is common for a dozen or more players to engage in stalements of spray and pray with little strategic sense or purpose.

Overall review: On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this game a 3.5. The devs really had a good idea going and although they try to make every player's purpose in the game count, they really fall short in allowing a single player to do m,uch on their own without an inordinate amount of real-life hours just to start being functional.

The game has so much potential, but the devs are evidently biased to one side. Not even biased in what weapons go to which faction, also moderating the game in an unfair way. The one faction gets everything if they cry enough on reddit, while the other faction is effectively ignored. If you report an exploit as the one side, you get ignored, if on the other faction it is fixed as soon as possible. There so many examples out there, it's honestly sad. - Would be a good game if it wasn't so unbalanced and moderation would be fair. A shame!
