At first, we want to thank all of you who is filling our workshop with your stunning creations. It is a pleasure to see how blueprints are uniting the community. It is a tribute to us to see how you like new updates. We always hope that everything we do will bring you more fun and make the game better.
Last week we have collected a lot of feedback and already fixed some bugs. In following days we will think out the rest of your comments and see what we can still improve. For example we will need to introduce some system for categorizing blueprints and we are also trying to find the best way for updating your blueprints.
This week we are starting the most important phase of survival overhaul - analysis and design. It might look as a boring balancing of the values, but we need to create whole new overall image of the game from the perspective of resources occurrence, recipes composition and the survival flow as a whole. Our goal is to make survival more challenging and remove artificial blockers like those in tech tree. We want you to be limited only by what you can achieve in the game and not by our need to control your progression.
There will be tons of changes...some of them visible...lots of them under the hood. Some of survival changes is closely tied with the story. Maybe we would be able to release survival changes gradually as we finish them, but the story will be released just in two phases. One phase by the end of the year and the second phase in the first quarter of 2019.
More about survival and story will be introduced in upcoming blog posts.
Other things we are working on now:
Happy nomading!
It is two weeks now since we released blueprint update. We are amazed how quick you filled our workshop with your great ideas. There are over 400 blueprints in the workshop right now while I am writing this post for you.
In the light of your speed of contributing new ideas we decided to work a little bit on tag system for blueprints. Every builder now will have the ability to add tags to his/hers creations via replicator block. Tags will help anyone who is looking for something in the workshop to filter down some results.
And since we want you to have your current blueprints tagged and in order we will introduce new “refresh” function. Pavel is currently programming this feature so you don't have to destroy and re-upload your old blueprints. We will give you the ability to just “edit” them in the game and hit share button again to update selected blueprint in the workshop. Of course you can use this function even to edit description and/or machine itself.
In other news - we are about to release bunch of new blocks we hope you’ll like. There is a plant pot, new stairs and cockpits coming your way. The plant pot is new feature block for our fellow nomadic gardeners which will let you harvest some food and herbs without need of electricity. New stairs blocks are just like stairs you already know and love but with attractive bonus of different sizes. There is also new special stairs joint for you to be able to connect stairs to each other in more comfortable way. Last but not least we will add a new interior cockpit blocks without any cabin around them - especially for nomads who like to build their own command decks (one cockpit block for sitting and the other one for standing like Nick Fury in his helicarrier).
That is probably all info we have for now. I hope you will enjoy our planned changes and that you will give us your valuable feedback we are always looking for.
Happy Nomading
Last week we have released some new blocks and added altimeters into cockpits. A new week is here and we want to give you one release this week also. So what you can look forward to?
In reaction to your comments we have implemented tagging of blueprints. We have prepared a list of tags and you can choose which tags apply to your creation directly when creating a blueprint in the game. Others will then be able to search your blueprint by those tags. The list of tags is curated by us, so you will not be able to create your own tags. But at least you can give us your ideas for tags on the forum.
We have also prepared an option to update existing blueprint. It will preserve comments and subscriptions, so users of your blueprint will always be able to access the newest version.
We wanted to release it today, but we have found some unexpected issues with workshop API we must fix before. So expect this update to be released in the following days.
A second big feature of upcoming update will be the integration of the terminal into the cockpit. If you have working terminal on your vehicle, you can access it simply by pressing "T" key without leaving the cockpit. So you will be able to adjust suspension or switch on/off the lights or lock the joints instantly from your seat. This feature is ready and will also be released with this update.
Happy Nomading
We have new monday and that means new development diary for you.
We don´t want to spoil you too much, but there is an another update planned for you this week. You are about to get better visual presentation of powered wheels so it would be more obvious on first sight.
Pavel had an interesting idea about how to make building even more friendly and came with a new feature - scrolling block closer or further away from camera so you don´t have to move your avatar while building.
Probably the biggest feature of this update will be our new bug reporting tool. We have implemented this new tool directly into the game - thanks to that we can gather all bugs in one place where we can make some sorting, prioritizing and evaluating.
More info about update feaures will be posted in release notes with update itself.
As for the future development I can inform you that we made some great progress with the storyline too. I would rather not go into detail about story itself. Purpose of story is that it should give you some meaning...motor...to proceed with the game - to unravel some mysteries. Of course it's completely optional and those who don't want to play it...doesnt need to. One of the aspects of story is that it will lure player into exploring whole planet to find clues he needs to advance. We will introduce some new features too - like new tool, unlockable story blocks, blueprints, items etc.
Happy nomading
We have promised you an update last week but unfortunately we did not managed to release it. Our aged building computer broken up during the build and we have to move whole building environment to a new machine. Part of the issue was broken hard disk but no game source code was lost, just part of our building tools.
Old machine was MacOSX and the new one is a Linux one, so we need to modify some scripts and workflows, including compiling Sandy native code for all supported platforms. Also automatic uploading of the builds to Steam and GoG services is a tricky process to master again after several years of not needing to worry about. We hope everything will be ready for release this week. The update with our new bug tracking system is already waiting.
Speaking about bug tracking, we want to move everything related to bugs to one place. It means that forums will no longer be used to report bugs in the game, just general discussions about the game. It will help us to keep everything in one place, without duplicities, with complete history tracking and all relevant data together. We will have better overall view on the number of issues and better data for planning bugfixing vs. new features. You will also have possibility to vote on bugs that affects you, to help us set the priorities.
If it will prove itself, we will see if we will introduce similar system for feature proposals.
Happy nomading
How are you after the weekend? We have some news for you.
First of all we are truly happy to see where you took the building part of the game. There are so many amazing buildings and vehicles, it’s almost unbelievable that it can be achieved in our game. If you’d like to promote your creations write us on our twitter @PlanetNomads and we will share it. We can’t wait for the first screenshots.
As you know we were working hard on smaller updates to make the best game possible. For now we will focus on bigger updates climaxing around the end of the year - in other words less frequent but bigger. We’d like to deliver the best experience there is in our game, that means our focus is more to the survival and exploration part. We can’t reveal the exact changes right now, but stay tuned for later updates and see for yourself. Even though our focus is now survival and exploration we will continue fixing bugs and with your help on our bugtracker https://bugs.planet-nomads.com/ we will achieve greatness in no time.
As for the rest of the news - there’s a new commander on deck. His name is Ghost and besides working on some new additions to the game he will update you regularly on our progress. You can follow his twitter or instagram and see where does he come from. He'lI drop some teasers in from time to time.

Last but not least thank you all for the ongoing support and staying with us on our road. We couldn’t do it without you.
Keep on building Nomads!
Martin
P.S. Wheels will not shine so bright soon.
We are currently working hard on a big update, so fingers crossed. Our guys are working on some fine tuned behavior for the bees as well as better on-screen communication. We are also finishing new suit, so stay tuned for more.
Meanwhile we are forced to seize the official forums. We shifted our focus to forums right here on steam. Here's the link to the whole message:
https://forum.planet-nomads.com/threads/2827-Moving-This-forums-to-Steam-Discussions
Last note today for all of you. Please be kind and welcoming to each other on the forums. There might be new people among you pretty soon.
Also a special shout out to Aieonae ;) Thanks for bringing that issue up. We hear you man.
And as always keep them bugs coming!
Best,
Ghost
Another week has passed. Phew, that was fast. We have some new things in development now.
So called bees draining your thirst are now behaving much better and will actually circle around you as a threat. New suit is almost finished and our brave artists started on new models for the dangerous flora you may encounter in the game.
We are also developing a task system for better communication of what to do next. It is almost finished and it will come in the big update.
As for the player communication - we have some new vignettes for the statuses in the game so you know that you're being damaged, radiated, cold etc.

Our mighty programmers fixed some bugs and did some optimizations so hopefully next week we'll have a small update ready for you.
Thanks a lot for staying with us and keep building Nomads.
Best,
Ghost
We will switch the day for Dev diaries to Wednesday so if you are following this thread mark Wednesday in your calendar.
We started to look at the issue with identification of rotation and overall communication when building. We already have some ideas thanks to you guys. And we will hopefully have it ready quite soon.
There's been a lot of talk about improvements in the past dev diaries and those are still in preparation phase. But a small selection from new things that are coming. We started our work on new weather. Also we will be able to move blocks and we will have a button for take all in the inventory. These are just small things that we have in store for you.
The new update is out. https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/games/504050/announcements/detail/1707321830270982233
Be sure to check the changelog.
Keep building and stay in touch.
Best,
Ghost
another week is behind us. We are sorry about that last update. Some issues slipped through as we prepared it.
We finished the new weather and finally we have a blizzard that will blind you. It's basically a white hell. A new rain effect is coming which should also help with the performance.
The team is preparing a new mode for you guys so let's hope for the best and hopefully we'll have it ready by next week. It' going to be free roam. So that the players who would like to build and mine without a worry for dying of hunger will have a chance to do so. It will still be possible to die but the rest will be gone.
The bugtracker is filled with bugs but also not bugs that made you guys confused. We are looking into those issues as we see the problems behind them.
Keep it up Nomads.
Best,
Ghost
it's been so chaotic yesterday that I forgot about our Dev Diaries. I'm sorry about that.
Hopefully next week we will have a new update with lots of things like mining that is not infinite. Take all button, better communication of the statuses and conditions and new weather to name the bigger ones.
Meanwhile our mighty programmer is working on reorganizing the build catalogue. We would like it to be readable and understandable by simply looking at it. We are also slowly preparing the survival game for the story and better experience. New things are definitely coming.
Our team has finished preparing the new mode so you can expect it in the next update. It's really enjoyable and I hope you'll like it too.
Thanks for enjoying our game.
Best,
Ghost
