Anger is More than Just Lack Of HOTAS Support
DISCLAIMER: I am neither supporting nor goinf against the review bombing. I am just trying to shed light on at least one reasons why people are angry and hopefully calm the pitchforks and torches of the player base going at each other

A lot of the counters against the anger against this game failed to consider one point, and that is one of the major points of PC gaming. That is the ability to freely cutomize your experience.

AC7 is not a hardcore realistic flight sim. It has for most of its history been played on consoles with gamepads. Many of the counters involve this argument. However just because that is the case does not mean we have to limit ourselves to that way of playing. Part of PC gaming is finding new ways to play a game or a genre of games, and the process is a fun and engaging experience.

Which is why when any company, whether through intent or incompetence, release a game that severelt limits the abovementioned freedoms PC gamers get angry. You can almost compare it to someone telling you you are not allowed play in the park because the other kids in the neighborhood are not allowed as well.

I am a big fan of the Ace Combat franchise. I liked 4 and Loved 5 and Zero, unfortunately I couldn't play 6 nor Infinity or Assault Horizion. When I heard that AC7 was coming to PC I was ecstatic. I wanted to try playing Ace Combat with a complete HOTAS set. It certainly is not unreasonable. For while AC7 is not a hardcore sim, it is not a complete softcore arcade game. It occupies a middle ground that I think would be an interesting experience with a HOTAS. So when I realized that support was lacking I was devastated, perhaps not as much as a lot of the angry reviews but I can certainly sympathize with why they are angry . Although whether or not it warrants a review bomb is up to the individual.
Add to that the fact that configuring a gamepad that isn't an Xbox gamepad is a little more complicated than it had to be and you get people who are understandably very upset that they payed AAA price for a AAA game
