What was versus mode like?
I played this on the DS long ago I love this game. The one thing I could never play though, what is the versus mode because it required two cartridges. I understand that it’s not in this version, But has anyone who has played the game on the DS been able to play the verses mode? If so what was it like?

what? there was a versus? damn, i remember when i was 12 i bought a cheats book dictionary where you would look up game names and use the cheat codes in the book to do things, i remember strictly buying it because there was a locks quest cheat where it changes the clockworks skins to the kingdom soldiers, so you could play the whole game fighting the kingdom if you wanted to, it was my favorite idk why

To add the story, i never really liked drawing or arts and crafts that much when i was a young bb, but then my mom gifted me on christmas the game called "Drawn to Life" it really was a magical game to me, it was also the game that taught me how to read in english since its not my main language, it showed me a wonderful story, i got easily attached to the cute characters, i tried my best to draw even though i sucked balls at it, since the game had given you the illusion that you are the author of the story book so i as a lil babs wanted to show them i was a good authourrrr haha. So yeah that gem of a game was by the same creators of Locks Quest, my mother, i have no idea how she found out or if it was major coincidence since she literally has no idea about how to use cell phones or the internet, got me Locks Quest, it was literally one of THEE best games i ever played, Locks quest just has an amazing storyline and gameplay, honestly one of the best childhood experiences i had while growing up, right next to the Rune Factory and Dark Cloud game series. Which btw i recommend you try out Rune Factory 3 (on Vimms lair Ds emulator) and Dark Cloud 2 (on Vimms lair, PS2 emulator), they may be a little bit old but currently are still one of the best, the gameplay feels sometimes better then anything tripple A titles can come up with. Hope this little story entertained anybody at all in this little empty discussions page from a year ago ahaha

This answer is extremely late, but I bought this game just yesterday cuz its in sale and I played it when I was young.

I also played the versus mode against my brother sometimes. It was actually pretty cool, cant remember if it was balanced tho. Cant remember the extreme details too, but one side choose to 'attack' and the other to 'defend. We always played on the map in the beginning, at the shore. The defender got time to set up the defense, having everything already, all buildings, turrets + skills.
As attacker, you set up your attack with your clockwork troops. You have your ressources limited at the beginning, and you cant choose the strongest troops yet. You can choose if either your whole troop comes from the left or the right or middle and so on. Over time, you can send stronger units, and your ressources grow over time. It was so fun. I wish the multiplayer mode still existed. If I was a programmer, Locks Quest would be a game that I would remake + online versus mode. The Story was so touching and the music just absolutely fascinating. Still listening to it today sometimes.

That would be a killer online mode. Few have done something like that and those games are dead, but were fun while they lasted.

Of course. Here's to remembering great games of old and all the content originally created for them.

I don't know if you know this yet, but you don't actually have to get any kind of cheat code to make all the clockwork into kingdom force. On the original DS, you just have to press either "L" or "R" (It was one of those, but I forgot which one) when you click on a save file to start up the game, and when you choose a map, it sends out kingdom force.

Honestly sounds like a bore. Whenever the kingdom force was on the attack, they were painfully easy to kill given the lack of unit variety. Only the final boss could make them stand a chance.
