when I said "D button" I was talking about the arcade version's controls
the buttons are referred to as A/B/C/D/E on arcade

if you're using a console controller D = RB/R1

When the starting each match jump forward at an angle, and land a fast to medium attack. Then start a combo fest and don't let go. Just beat her with saber using those tactics, and it's literally all you can do.
If you can make it over her black ball whatever you are usually good, and she usually starts every match with that attack right off the bat.

It's all fine unless you're not a combo expert and you play as Ein, who doesn't like getting too close... And for some dumb reason, boss' basic fireball destroys even ultra/super projectiles that I'm trying to throw at her.
I did defeat her in the end on 3 characters already, but these kind of bosses are absolutely the worst, especially if they have cute/cool audiovisual design otherwise.

What's up with all those smaller/indie fighters with absolutely trash-design bosses?

It's not about getting good. I've defeated this boss with multiple character already, doesn't mean it's any less frustrating to fight. It's still annoying to have your super projectiles blocked by mere special fireball as is gettting trashed by cancelling one special into another then into super then into another super.

Arcades.
This boss is super easy even in score attack where examu/team arcana often get beyond broken mode, or hardest difficulty. You just need to know how to play the game, and you never lose, without needing exploits. Compared to score attack chizuru, kamui, and parace l'sia, who were not wirth the effort trying to beat. Boss al is pbly boss scharl lvl at best and probably lower. Definitely easier than old snk bosses or i-no

nope i dont even play arcade mode much, and just beat the boss easily, without trying. i didnt go down again and again. or had to learn patterns or specific knowledge checks
i do play a lot against players, and know the game mechanics really well. not like parace for example where knowing mechanics and being able to play humans don't help at all.

i just played again to complete gallery and test hardest difficulty, she just stood there and let me pressure her, when she wasn't blocking half the time.

What's the answer to her each move then. My knowledge of how to deal with Al doesn't work against her at all and she seems to have no recovery frames, she was plus even while getting hit to whip out her version of Mirror.
