Why won't the game let me change the resolution?

For some reason it won't let me set the game to 1920x1080 resolution, anytime I press apply, it will blink black for 2 seconds and then it will be automatically set to some random number like 1044x655 or whatever.
I've tried numerous of times now, even tried rebooting the game, rebooted my computer once, manually set aspect ratio to 16:9, it just will NOT let me set it to 1920x1080.
Anyone had the same problem and how did you fix it?

Yes Windows 10 is up to date, yes the game is up to date, yes my GPU drivers are up to date, yes my computer FAR exceeds the minimal requirements of any 2018 release (so it's definitely powerful enough for this game).
Just in case anyone thought about asking about these.

Thanks for that link!
I did in fact Google it a bit and somehow didn't come across that.
I've refunded it though, but I'll keep it in case I decide to give it another shot, because I was really itching to play another settlers game after all these years and I was a bit sad it wouldn't work properly.

Same problem.
But the game seems to ignore whatever I put into the options.ini file.

- I tried all possible ways starting it in windowed mode (which it never did)
- I tried manually changing the resolution in the file
- I tried setting the file to read only
- Checked for Updates
- Ran as administrator..
- etc.

Yet I know it used to work normally about a year ago.
